Get a set of Hawk HPS. I've had them on mine for about 15,000kms and they are great! With no mess

The rear pads are gm, I assumed the front ones were too.. The rotors are gm as well.. Whatever they are, they suck. If this car has a full brembo system, I sure as hell couldn't tell.

In what way are they better?

It is gonna be real hard to beat Ferodo HP1000s for a street pad.

The front pads are not brembo pads.
so... evo's running brembos... factory pads are brembos... sti's running brembos... factory pads... brembos... 350's running brembos factory pads are brembos.. g35's running brembo's factory pad brembo... your telling me that GM designed their own pad to fit our brembo caliper??

if you dont believe me... go to hawks website... narrow down the front pads to fit a cobalt ss running brembos... click any of them.. and youll see its the same pad that fits a mitsubishi lancer evolution...

Dude, I have held about 3 sets of stock front SS/TC pads in my hands.

They're not Brembo pads.

They are Ferodo HP 1000 pads.

Psst

This car isn't an Evo, STI, G35

It's a Cobalt.

And if you read the rest of my post( I know it's hard, it is just easier to argue) you will see that I have mentioned they are Ferodo pads, twice now.

But google searching is a little hard to do, I know.

I don't see it, I see different part numbers and different thicknesses..

HB548F.590 is the part number cor an LNF cobalt, when you google search that number the only application that comes up is Cobalt LNF.

There are tons of brake pads avaliable for evo's why isn't everyone using those on their LNF then? Why hasn't anyone "figured that out" yet?

This helps a lot..

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-10-ss-turbocharged-general-discussion-152/front-rear-brake-informational-thread-178668/

It looks like the front pad probably is brembo, but the rears and the rotors are not.

edit: I see that steddy now says they are Ferodo pad.. I was pretty sure I had heard people say they looked at them when they changed them at they weren't brembo.. Maybe they are putting brembo pads on the 2010.

Steddy for the win. And the HP1000 is a darn fine pad for 99% of all applications I use them on the track no problem. Wear a little fast but its the track for goodness sake. And with cooling they do last better....

i know this car isnt an evo... but its using the same brembo stuff as all the other cars..

so then... ferodo makes the pads for brembo?http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...P2298C192.aspx

The shape and thickness of the front pad is unique to the Cobalt SS. How many cars have 4 piston MONOBLOCK Brembos available? I'll give you a hint, there are none from Japan.

The stock pads are quite consistent and linear in feel, which makes them easy to modulate. Much better than the artificial grabby brakes of makers like Toyota. Grabiness != effectiveness.
