it's rather simple... unless you are going super stupid undriveable low, you can use the stock struts and shocks, HOWEVER, if they have more than about 45k on it, i'd replace them while i was at it.

you only need springs. struts are a good investment, especially if you are going really low but they are not needed.

If you do both springs and struts you are better off spending an extra couple hundred bucks and doing coilovers.

If you are going to drop the stock suspension FE1 about an inch you should be fine. I dropped mine 2.5 inches with Eibach sportline springs and replaced the stock FE1 struts with FE5 struts from an SS/SC. Bout 15k miles on them and they are still perfect.

i have a 2.2 and i went with eibach sportlines... it's a nice drop... your need new shocks no matter what cause in a year you have to replace them after dropping it so it's better to do it all now then have to pay for them to install it twice....

when you drop it it's compressing the shock all the time wich strains it.. my shocks are kinda shot after about a year it's just really bouncey i only notice it when i am in the passenger seat

i have a 2.2 too and i've had my sportlines for about 41/2 months and they're pretty good. the drop is not as much as u would think. i got aftermarket 17's w/215/45 tires and there's still bout 2 inches of clearence between tire and wheel well (give or take)(just take a look at my pics). even though they drop 2" in the front and 2.5" in the back. they are a great choice as far as quick cornering and overall handling, but not exactly for comfort if u drive over run-down streets like me. and as far as just springs u will definately have to change ur struts sooner than u would usually have to. in my opinion for springs: eibach sportlines for n e other setup: coilovers, they're adjustable as far as dampening and ride height and the springs and shocks are made to function properly together. savin up 4 them now.
