OTTP Rack Spacers???

I just put the Sportlines on and love the look and feel they give. Car handles a lot better than before.

I bought the Rack Spacers (1.5-2.0 drop) with the springs but didn't install them. If I don't feel any bump steer at the moment, is there a chance I will down the road?

Also for those who have them installed with Sportlines, how much of a difference do you see?

Did you guys see a drastic change in how tight the steering was?

I move the steering wheel 1mm and I can change lanes. I feel like I used to have to move it almost a cm.

Or is it just me? lol.

yeah I cut them when installing the Sportlines. They worked out fine but now I'm switching to Pedders and they need uncut ones.

If I decided not to cut them what are the down sides?

I did not cut the bump stops on my Cavalier with sportlines so went the same route.

I guess you may end up bumping them more often...I'm sure you'll be fine though. It said to cut mine in the directions so I did.

Yeah, you'll be fine with not cutting them...there has been a lot of discussion about that here..I only cut them because of the instructions...If I could do it again, I wouldn't have cut them this time around.

I want to know what a dealership charges for bump stops...I need a new set front and rear for my Pedders when they come.

Alignment and Rack Spacer Q

lol. Rack Spacers to Bump stops. I'll probably put the spacers in when I feel like it.

Has anyone used the Firestone Alignment with lifetime alignments? I have heard so much **** about Firestone and have never used them. I know I should get an alignment here pretty soon (around 200 miles??? sound right?) I just don't know if I will take advantage of their price of $140 lifetime, or just do it at Belle Tire for $70 a couple times in a couple years. Any other thought?

Can someone just confirm that I am going to do this correct. I just don't want to put this some what generic looking spacers in the wrong place.

I am assuming that they go under the rubber grommet of #6. Can someone confirm this before I put the car back up on the hoist and start this whole process.

i went to firestone and i did the normal alignment and had a coupon and the car pulled to the right so i took it back and they made it a tad better and then i got my rack spacers put them in, im on sportlines sorry. when back to them and upgraded to the life time plan haha and the car pulls to the right but thats only if i let go of the steering wheel and the road isnt completely flat haha

flat roads out here not much haha
they helped

nah they go under number 1 as i didnt know either haha

u have to push up the steering rack and slide them in, tedious task.
we phoned a friend(ls1body) and he told us to remove the wheels to loosen the bolts with ease

So you actually do put the "rack" spacer in the rack and pinion.

I seriously thought I was retarded not knowing where these things go. lol.

You didn't happen to take any pics when you did it now did you? That would of been great.

Are the bolts on the top or bottom? Also do the spacers go on the top or bottom?

Just want to make sure I do this right, and I could not find a how-to on here. I searched for "ott rack spacers" and just found a lot of people saying you might need them.

the bolts are top and the spacers go under the steering rack to push the steering rack up to balance the geometry of the cars diff ride height
didnt get pics at the time, but i just when into the garage and laid on the floor and got a pic haha

this is a pic of the driver side, the rack spacer is that square there
