Pedders question and some other stuff

My question about Pedders is simple really. I've done my own research into these springs and the more I read, the more I want. I had originally decided on Eibach as that's all I've ever used before, and have been more than happy. But a lot of you who have these springs and post (whom I generally like what you dudes have to say), all rave about them. But why am I seeing on here that it's barely a 1" drop in front, and just a little over in the rear, while sites such as TTR have them advertised as 1.5" front, 1.6" rear? I don't get it? It actually may sway my decision one way or the other. At the end of the day, I'm always about the performance of something over the looks, but was really hoping for over an inch drop on both front and rear. Hopefully someone can settle this for me?

Also, any of you with Pedders/Sportlines have rubbing issues? I will be reusing my TC struts as they're essentially brand new, and will end up with an 18x8 in the end, yet to be decided. Hummed and hawed about changing my bolt pattern, but then I have the hassle of changing it back each and every fall/spring for the winter tires to go back on, so I've decided to ditch that idea. 5x110 is bad enough to deal with, but these ******* Brembos are ruining my life. Please also feel free to rant in here, about how annoying finding the 'right' wheels are, for these cars.

Oh, and the car is a 2010 LNF coupe, as I'm very lazy and haven't created a proper signature yet.

Pedders with 18X8 wheels. they are +35mm offset and do not rub with 245/40/18 tires unless i pack 4 people in.

heres with stock wheels/tires. it doesnt drop that low in the back, but it still looks good. the rake effect is also beneficial and these springs are top notch. no coil binding of any kind and it rides almost like stock. they handle better than stock too. love these springs.

Wow man... there's my car! Nice ride. Are those OZ's? They look fantastic.

Basically what I'm after... lowered, and completely murdered out. I don't want chrome lips, shiny center caps, and all that crap. BLACK, and preferably matte.

I don't doubt they help out in a hard launch/hard braking scenario, but how do you find the Pedders corner? This car is so light, I've taken a few corners quick enough that the ESP kicks and I can actually feel the factory spring 'bucking', as I call it.

nope those are team dynamics pro race 1.2's. the pedders corner really well. especially if you have a rear swaybar. they are the only springs better than factory for handling purposes. i think youl be satisfied. eibach sportlines lower the car more in the rear and give it a more even look, but it doesnt ride as well or handle as good as stock or pedders. i hear it can be bouncy too. i hate bouncy rides.

If you're willing to *move on* and put this *drop thing* behind you, Pedders are the way to go. You will get about 1" drop up front and actually 3/4" in the rear (maybe 7/8").
Here is my car on Pedders with stock size tires. If you switch to a 235/40/18 tire, the gap will be slightly reduced.

More recent:

An 18X8 will fit fine..just need caliper clearance and the proper offset.

Everyone uses *BIND* like it's a bad thing. Many springs, especially progressive ones, are designed so that some of the coils make CONTACT with eachother. That will render them no longer *active* and, as a result, the overall spring will become stiffer. What's the big deal? Having said this, sometimes it's not the best option. With the Pedders you may get *slight* contact between a LIMITED number of coils on full compression...as opposed to MAJOR MULTIPLE coil contact with springs like SPORTLINES, etc.

I was waiting for you to post... You're actually the guy that led me to this site in the first place. I wanted to see pictures of a black Enkei PF01 on a Cobalt SS/TC and guess who popped up through Google? Haha.. nice to meet you.

Out of every wheel out there, and trust me I've looked... I think it's gonna be the PF01. 235/40 is probably the perfect size for a nice flat sidewall on an 18x8. Ideally, with a changed bolt pattern, the TSW Nurburgring or the XXR 518 would be my top choices. Very sexy.

As for coil bind, I have a hard time believing that with the modest drop of the Pedders, that will ever be an issue. Regardless of the numbers all you guys have great looking rides and the drop is pleasing to the eye. Sure better than the stock gap!

I'm aware that the more drop there is, the hardest on the OEM struts it would be... anybody have any premature failure on their factory struts with Pedders? On multiple vehicles, I never had an Eibach fail, or cause any abnormal wear to suspension components. It would pogo like a BITCH, but otherwise was a great spring.

You won't have any strut/shock failure with Pedders and TC struts. I think Eibach Sportlines could be a problem. I have read accounts of other cars (Not TC Cobalt) using Sportlines and Koni shocks (very good shocks) where the shocks were destroyed in a very short time. The lower you go, the more stress on the shocks. *POGO* is classic for shocks overpowered by the springs...that's another matter.
