It is possible there's just not many out there using this pad. I have EBC greens, thinking about doing REDS for the next pad or Hawk HPS, just not sure if I should use ceramic or OEM on my SS/SC.

GM is starting to carry a lot of brake pad options for replacement pads. You may want to check your local dealership, and see what they have. I know they are starting to carry ceramic pads for most cars, I believe when I last checked the 09-10 SS ceramic is available.

I have an 06 SS/SC....speaking of ceramic I take it is better for the track not as good on the street? Is that how the characteristics of the pad type go?

These pads use ceramic compounds and copper fibers in place of the semi-metallic pad's steel fibers. This allows the ceramic pads to handle high brake temperatures with less heat fade, provide faster recovery after the stop, and generate less dust and wear on both the pads and rotors. And from a comfort standpoint, ceramic compounds provide much quieter braking because the ceramic compound helps dampen noise by generating a frequency beyond the human hearing range.

Another characteristic that makes ceramic materials attractive is the absence of noticeable dust. All brake pads produce dust as they wear. The ingredients in ceramic compounds produce a light colored dust that is much less noticeable and less likely to stick to the wheels. Consequently, wheels and tires maintain a cleaner appearance longer.

Ceramic pads meet or exceed all original equipment standards for durability, stopping distance and noise. According to durability tests, ceramic compounds extend brake life compared to most other semi-metallic and organic materials and outlast other premium pad materials by a significant margin - with no sacrifice in noise control, pad life or braking performance.

cliff notes: they'll be fine to run on the street lol

I didn't want a compound that wouldn't heat up on the street enough to be useful hence the street question.....

So EBC Red stuff brake pads is one option, these posi pads...and does GM have ceramics for the SS/SC now? If so shoot me a part number please.

I put that in there to emphasize why I asked about the street not that I didn't understand your response. It was in response to your lol. You provided good info, don't ruin it by being sarcastic.

No worries!

Thanks again for the info, I had read on the Corvette forums ceramic is the way to go, but also on here I've had a lot of folks swear by the Hawk HPS and Hawk Ceramic without much info on which and why ect....

I'm running the EBC Greenie, they seem to be wearing a little faster than stock so I will be going up to something like the Hawk Ceramic, Red Stuff Ceramic or another....we'll see. I only have 47K on the odo put the Greenies on at around 40K and I am told I am down to 5mm on the front at my last vechicle inspection and oil change.

I am running the EBC Redstuff pads with the EBC Rotors. Used them on my GAGT and the last cobalt SS/SC. Also put them on the MR2. They work great!! Excellent stopping power,, no fade, and very little dust. I put them on at about 20k. Hardly any wear to the rotors or pads. I am at 63k now. Will defnately purchase them again.
