Rear Brakes

So recently I read in a post about a guy who had an issue with his rear brakes squealing..well I have the same issue, as I understand several others do as well. I finally took it to the dealership last night and had them look at it... low and behold... "nah, your brakes are fine" well they're clearly not as they squealed the whole time as I backed out of the garage... rofl. In any case...the tech said it could be build-up on the rotors... what could I do to clean this? or is this guy just a bunch of crap trying to shut me up....

Just have your rotors turned by a brake shop, its only about 10-15 bucks a rotor, and maybe a set of new pads.

usually when i park my car over night and back out of my drive way they squeel and then after like 10 secs because of pressing the breaks they go away, i think its something to do with rotor build up or them beeing too cold?? im not sure

kk. I also asked them how much it would cost to get replacement pads...(thinking I don't have the money for aftermarket ones right now...)and guess what....the ebc red stuff ceramics are 30 bucks cheaper per axle. lol

If it is junk built up, you can use brake cleaner, although I don't know if it's safe for the actual face of the rotors.

yeah that's exactly what I get, I just don't like people looking at me when I drive away going "wtf is with that kids car??"

I'm not sure if it is either, but i checked the face of the rotor the best I could and I don't see any buildup on that...maybe they mean in the caliper, or on the pad??

yeah mine will make a grind like sound for a little while until they warm up, then no problems, then theyll cool off and do it again. brake cleaner is ok for the rotor surface, thats primarily what its made for. It gets grease, dirt, and oil off the surface for a cleaner contact patch. yes anything besides dealer jobs will be cheaper, go with the aftermarket pads as long as they are reputable or brand name

Doesn't the LT come with drums on the rear??? Or do they come with all disc now? I know up until 2006, LTs had rear drums.

You should get your screen name updated so that is no longer says LT in it.
