Ok so after I finished my brakes before I went on leave my brakes were acting all kinda of funny. Stopping really hard at one wheel or the other. Then service ESC light came on and it eventually just stored a hard code. And now the ESC is always off. So after all that went and got it scanned and came out with circuit malfunction steering angle sensor. Anybody how to fix this problem or if it's a common issue.

 

Sounds like a ABS plug came undone or something. Not normal tho.

 

Need to take it to someone with a tech 2, and have them reset the steering angle sensor. More than 8 degrees off sets the code. Happens if you've had it aligned a few times. Don't ask how I know.

Ok sounds good. Thank u. Now does anyone have a tech 2 anywhere in central Texas. I really don't want to bring it to a shop for them to charge me 100 bucks for them to tell me what I already know. Then charge me for the reset.

 

Well, if you bought the car new from a dealer, they'll likely do it at no cost. Otherwise, it's probably something you'll need to take it to a dealer for. Most average shops that are non-dealers will not be able to reset it.

Might get lucky though. Call around. Just ask them if they're able to recalibrate the steering angle sensor in a Cobalt, and the cost. It's super easy if they have the tool.
