I got sportlines, they ride nice. Very solid, pretty much like stock but stiffer. I guess you get used to it too.

is it worth it just to look lower?

keep in mind LOWERING springs is 100% for looks.
because you can get the same handling with aftermarket springs without having to lower it....

After comparing it to the stock height. I would have to say that it is. The stock height looks like a 4 By 4.

You do however receive a benefit when the control arms are parallel with the ground though don't you? Or are they stock? I know that's the way it was with the cavaliers. You had the best stance for suspension when the control arms were parallel to the ground.

Am I on crack?

its possible.

though, i highly doubt youd feel much difference between the prokit or the sportlines.

I know that its purely for looks and I want to get rid of wheel gap, but our suspension was made on the ring so it must be amazing. Why the hell did they make it so dam high?

You are correct though Steve about the spring rates making the biggest difference.

I have the Pro-kit. I speak from experience saying that it makes the ride better than stock and helps with handling.

It's not as noticeable as getting a sway bar, but, it makes a real difference when your in a turn hard. When your fast in a turn and some bumps come bump instead of jostling the car and skidding a little it keeps the wheels planted firm on the tarmac and the car pointing in the right direction.

I noticed it most on Rt.1 in Boston if your familiar with it you know the kind of high speed turns and bumps I mean.

I highly suggest getting the Pro-Kit but def not until you have the progress sway bar and a strut tower bar.

The reason is the stiffer spring rate compared to stock, not so much the ride height.

Nope, theres people going 20k+ miles on them with lowering springs. You will need them eventually and ride quality will be better with them. I have sportlines on stock ones and the ride quality is good and I have no problems at all. Then again everything on my car is still new.

rocco1189, I have had the fortune of driving many cobalts with different suspensions. Friends and customers of mine. I will rank them in order of preference ,IMO, for ride quality and handling.
KW v1 (I know they are coilovers, but they were great)
Eibach Prokit (levels car out, higher rate spring)
Eibach Sportline (aggresive, hard on heavy bumps, need aftermarket dampers)
SSC (too soft for my liking)
H&R (front too low, will cause vibration issues from axleshaft angles, hard on bumps)
CA #1(rears too soft, bottomed out ez)

I see so the pro-kit would most likely be the best quality ride and closest to stock I could get then right? Also I hear it drops the front 1.0 inch and the rear 1.5 inches is this true? Have you ever driven on progress springs?

Everyone has different needs for suspension. IMO, if I had to deal with poor roads and wanted ride quality and performance, with the looks of a lowered car last, I would choose the Prokit and Koni dampers. Any aftermarket lowering spring will reguire new dampers, i.e. Koni, for them to perform to their fullest potential.
The prokit is 0 front and .5 rear lowering sportlines drop as you described. No, have not driven progress, so I cannot comment on them.

I see well yea my roads suck for about 5 minutes with alot of bumps but then they are fine and I take the highway everywhere else. So with that I am mostly looking for a better look and close to stock ride quality. Its not so much performance that I am looking for. I also dont want to harm my car by speeding up the wearing process of my struts/shocks. I hear good things about eibach pro-kit but also progress springs and ssc springs.

My SSC springs aren't too bad for daily driving, they do look good, but jounce too much over large dips in the road and still have too much body roll for me. I know the Koni dampers would help this. I do drive all highway, so a coilover is best for me and my intended uses. If your looking for drop, looks and ride quality, the SSCs should be ok. Progress spings maybe in the same ballpark as well, so I have heard.

How long have you been using ssc's and is there any noticeable wear?

Well, I guess about, 3 months. Got them for nothing,"trade in vehicle, simple swap" No noticeable wear on stock struts, too eary to tell, I think. IMO, SSC should be fine on stock dampers for awhile, but trust me, quality dampers are the most important part of a suspension.

Yea where could I buy dampers?

I like our angled stance as well I dont want to be dropped evenly thats why I like the progress and ssc springs.

I have delt with TH Motorsports (supporting vender) for my KW v2's and Adam was very helpfull. They were running a special on Koni yellows, he should be back in the office tomorrow, you could call him and see what he could work out for you.

So then overall would you recommend the SSC to someone who would want the lower stance or do you think the springs have to much pogo? I don't plan on upgrading the struts as the car will have the stock springs put back in every winter (not a big deal. My dad has a heated 4 car garage with air tools and a lift).
