Squeeky brakes
So i got my cobalt ss in june and about a month into having it the front brakes started to squeek. at first i just brushed it off as nothing important, but it kept getting worse to the point where it hurts my ears and makes EVERYONE stare at me when i pull up to a light. ive gone to the dealership many times and they "cant find anything wrong" there is also lots of brake dust on my rims. within 10 minutes of me washing my car they already have a layer of brake dust on them. does anyone else have any of these problems?!?!

I'm having the same issue. I have my 2010 SS with 8000k (the squaling started at 2000K) and the dealership keeps telling me it's normal because of the Brembos but I've even had the warning light come on and they said that its a faulty light (BS). It's starting to **** me off to the point that I'm looking at doing a swap but I don't want to sacrifice the performance so I'm sort of debating what to do.
Your symptoms line up with having a high performance brake pad. Hawk HP+ pads will squeak loudly an make lots of dust.
Or your pads could be worn down to the wear indicator, which is a piece of mrtal designed to make a loud audible noise when its time for new pads.
If you have brembos it should be pretty easy to check pad thickness. You don't have to take the brakes apart to do it, just maybe take the wheel off. If there's only around 5mm of pad left, time for a change.

believe it or not. It actually is the high performance braking system. ever ridden in a BMW? holy ****! they are even worse.
Mine squeel sometimes but it fades as the brakes warm up.
The best thing you can do is go buy some brake quiet from your local auto parts store. I put it on the back side of the pads and it seemed to help.

ya my pads have been replaced already and it was good for like a week and then it started again. the dealership has had it like 8 times since i got it in june and they keep saying "they cant replicate the sound" which is crap because it happens whenever i drive it. they also told me its "normal" but i've never heard brakes squeel this bad. my cousin works as a technision for BMW and he said he's never heard of brakes squeeking that bad with BMW's... i dont really know what to do anymore! the Camaro SS has Brembo's and the owner of the dealership i go to even said his dont squeek half as bad as mine and it doesnt shed as much brake dust. its getting to the point where i dont even like driving my car anymore!
Had mine into the dealer yesterday for squeaky brakes. At first they said it was normal. Then the service manager took it for a test drive and said that it was bad.
It only happened when the brakes were warm, and only when I was coming to a complete stop, like the last few feet before a stop sign. Sounded like a city bus stopping. Embarrassing.
Anyways, what they did was chamfer the edges of all four pads and now the squeak is gone!
Now if they could only silence my noisy sunroof...

How cold is it where you are? The pads are aggressive and if it's cold out they will make noise until they get some heat in them. Only way to fix it is to switch to a less aggressive pad. Also, make sure you pull the pads and load up on the brake quiet stuff on the back of the pads. If that doesn't fix it swap to less aggressive pads or deal with it.
