I bought Stance GR+ coilovers with lowness in mind. With that I believe its a awesome coilover to have if your just planning on going low and DD'ing. I have AutoX'd with them and mixed with some Powell goodies the car felt amazing.
Setup: STANCE GR+ coilovers with rings in the front and one removed in the back
Wheels: 17x8,17x9 BBS LM
Tires: 215/45/17 Yokohama S Drives

Like my buddy I also had dreams of going low, I felt as if I met my intended power levels and decided to take a new outlook on my car. With Stance and fitment EXPLODING onto the car scene I decided to take a stab at it.
Setup: Stance GR+
-Front: One locking ring removed.
-Rear: Both rings removed/Bump stops removed
Wheels: 17X9 Enkei PF01SS
Tires: 215/40/17 Yokohama S. Drive

the spring rates need to be changed and the valving needs to be better imho. shock bodies and everything else iarent to bad quality wise for being a cheap coilover. i tihnk they should have made a package that was a level higher in the line and did more research to make a proper setup for the cobalt. good street coilover though.

Cheap? Yes. $1200 is cheap when compared to KW, Ohlins, Bilstein and Tokico Race Shocks.
Valving. Interesting, because STANCE goes matches the shock to the spring rate with an in-house shock dyno unlike many other coilover companies. Ground control is actually a good one at a reasonable price that does this (not offered for the Cobalt anymore). Did you corner weight your car for optimization?
Do you have them? Do you have facts to back this up your claims? I like FACTS over speculation. Assumption/speculation is the mother of all foul up's.
I was your first sale out here in illinois and i took them off because i was happy with the handling on a road coarse.
Let me rephrase what i said a bit..... imsure the valving is fine for what comes with the struts and i have no doubt they will handle it. But for me wanting higher spring rates im sure they wouldnt last long but then again struts are a wear and tear item. For fwd to my knowledge the spring rates should be higher inback then in front. I really would of liked to see stance come out with some of their higher lines and i would definately like to give their higher end products a shot(maybe we can work this out?)
The car was not corner balanced as it was in and out of the shop for r&d onother things. Saw more street driving then track time unfortunately. They definately need more spring inthe rear. If you look at stances other setups aswell they r proper for the drivetrain on the cars.....awd subarus and evos have higher rates infront then in the back which is proper.
And yes when i was comparing price i was comparing like you said to bilstien, ohlins, penske etc etc. I consider any coilovers under 2k cheap. I pmd u about brake lines so we can further the discussion there. Great street coilover imho but leaves more to be desired for tracking.

For straight-up track setup, STANCE is still very good. We have done several custom STANCE coilovers in the past with custom valving and springs (added cost of course). I think that the STANCE coilovers are awesome for the street and for the guy who is getting on the track getting use to their car with getting seat time (novice driver). We have used STANCE on our time attack STi and several other 240's around the country with custom rates on valving and springs.
If STANCE were to do the spring rates for track on someone that normally drives their car on the street. Basically the shock would not really be street friendly. STANCE has tried to find a "happy medium."
Yes. The price on STANCE is very competitive. We have other options in making them a full 2-way coilover like on the EVO and STi's but obviously with some different pricing and lead time availability.
Being that we are a MASTER DISTRIBUTOR of STANCE we try not to be biased as I have KW coilovers for my S2000 and one of the other guys here swears by Bilstein. So we are pretty diverse indeed here. But when having been on the STi Time Attack scene. The STANCE coilover can be anything you want it to be. It's gone through several revisions over the years and I would say it's at its finest finish and fitment ever before.
they offer a lot more for other cars aswell is what i was getting at but there is a bigger scene for them... im saying it would be nice to see some movement in their higher end products for this car or atleast different spring rates for whats available. of corse cost would be added to it but i definately think some options would be nice for this community just like they have for other communities.

Setup:
Stance GR+
-Front: Rings in tact, struts adjusted all the way down. Damper 8
-Rear: Both rings in tact, Bump stops removed. Damper 7
Wheels: 17X8.25 XXR 527's
Tires: 215/45/17 Nankang NS-20

I LOVE mine. But.
I must have received the freak mutant set because you say they are set up on an "in-house shock dyno" but both front struts on my set the spring preloads were totally different lengths. The rear springs were too. I never adjusted them, they came out of the boxes like this and i have no idea what the proper adjustment is since one was ratcheted up tight and one was so loose the spring wiggled freely.
So needless to say it's been very time consuming to dial them in. I called you guys for support to help me get them dialed into the proper specs before mounting and the guy i spoke with was VERY nice and willing to help but not very knowledgeable about anything that had to do with setting these up on the Cobalt. And rather than find someone that did he just left me hanging (disappointing) So I went solo and did a butt load of reading online and got a general idea. Maybe the rep from THM posting here can be more helpful for me.
But if not, what I gathered online was....
The rule of thumb seems to be that the spring from top perch to lock nut should be about 5 to 6 inches long. I followed that and the car feels pretty awesome, with the damper adjusted to about 8 clicks in front and 7 in the back I have a nearly OEM feeling ride. I'm thinking of going lower, but since this is my daily driver and not even close to being a show car I may just keep it at this conservative level.

is everyone swapping out their 18's for 17's when getting the stance? wanted to kno the reason for that, i love the tucc'd look. RK Ramos your car looks gud as hell but why did u go with 17's?
I just dropped the stance in 4 days ago played with the rear dampning for a bit left the front as is and they feel great on regular streets. Tough driving on the dirt road just to go somewhere but its the dedication that counts.
I'm going with wide better offset 17's probly soon ,and will be lifting it untill the next event. I'm probly the only ls or bolt out west of Houston riding this low but I hope I'm wrong. Just can't wait to move out.
Anyone have good ideas on good 17 set me, be nice to hear what would work for me.

bottom line i would recommend it for the avid user not for track use.
