So i've made the decision that it's likely to start a flame war onto myself. I decided to replace my 2.4 springs with that of a 2.2. Now why on earth would I want to give up that handling and how big of a dfference do I expect. As far as the handling goes, I'll miss it, but have thought about it. During 80% of my driving I more want a relaxed drive. Frankly I'm sick of all the rattles, and the stiffer suspension just escalates it. I do espect a difference but dont expect it to be the same ride quality as a stock 2.2. I still have the 17 inch wheels on afterall. From the research I've done, the only difference between the 2.2 and 2.4 suspension is. Higher spring rates, larger aluminum control arms, and larger wheels, the struts are the same part number between the two, thus the same, only the 2.0 has different struts. if anyone knows what the different spring rates are, let me know.

Thats the problem is the sidewall highth of the tire, that gives a jarring ride.

You could put the Eibach Prokit in and acheive the same effect bacause of their progressive spring rate. I've driven at least 10k on these and I would say, on a decient freeway doing 80 they ride as soog as my stock LS springs. Then when you throw it in a corner it doesnt wallow and sway about, also cause I put sway bars in it.

But running 225/50-15's at 33psi ride perfectly.

I'd leave what you have alone, or go with the prokit, and step back to 16's and a 225/50-16 tire. let the tire absorb more of the road force.

Sounds like a personal preference choice to me. Some people are focused on performance and handling, others are more interested in economy and comfort.

 

Actually I don't anymore...

 

I think its possible to have a compromise of both a decient ride and a capably handling car.
Hence, my car.
