Steering Knuckles
Steering Knuckles
what are my options for upgraded front knuckles. I have an ls sedan with 4x100 bolt pattern. do ss/tc knuckles fit and what about ones from a G6 instead of the GM Knuckles for Competitive Driving?
The G6/Competition Knuckles should work I'd imagine. After all, they were designed for the SS/SC.
According to Powell, the Competition knuckles appeared to have a better casting than both the SS/TC and SS/SC knuckles. In steering ratio, the SS/SC is slowest, Competition is middle, and SS/TC is fastest.
Here's the thread where quikredline (Powell) talks about the Cobalt's suspension, knuckles being one of the topics if you scroll down a bit. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/suspension-67/thoughts-cobalt-front-suspension-202915/

G6 knuckles require mild machining to fit the hub properly.
SS/TC knuckles also require machining to fit a non SS/TC hub, but there isnt enough material to safely machine them.go with modified G6 knuckles from Powell or GMR Comp knuckles if you can find them still.
But as was mentioned, knuckles dont break under anything even remotely close to normal driving or even auto-x/track day use. No real "need" to upgrade.

GM did NOT break them during autox......they broke ONE knuckle, during very serious extremely high load testing on GMs road course (google map Miolford proving ground) there a 30+ degree banked concrete corner thats Nurburgring style.
