Steering Rack Spacers wtf

Okay so I read and I read and steering rack spacers make total sense, I get it, its a shim to bring the steering rack to square when you drop the spring size....So I order me a set, the pic looks like this cnc milled aluminum not something I can fab in the garage...Well what I get in the mail is flat bar stock aluminum with a hole drilled in them, So the point of this thread is Why not use harden steel washers as a shim instead?....50 cents a piece vs 24 shipped,!?!?!

btw this must be a $1-2 worth of aluminum and thats being generous

well its the right way to do springs to keep everything square, but I didnt know how simple the design was till I got a set, I thought the milling wraps around the base of the steering rack, if this is all it is then a little guess work with some washers will do the exact same thing!

well I got the ones for pedders thats why I didnt go huge, since its not a big drop, and tbo I do think they are too thin, so I will end up stacking a washer or 2 with them, maybe I ordered the wrong ones?

Oh ok, for a bigger drop they must be milled and that woudl be what the picture is from. Would be kinds nice to see what you order though before you get disappointed. Then again if people really knew they probably would just make their own and they would loose money.

Not really your mistake as it was their fault for showing a picture of a bigger spacer and not the square washer you got. I would dispute that **** and just use a washer since it's too small anyway.

^ when you drop your car everything gets out of whack, like the steering rack, this brings the steering rack back into line with the wheel and thus gets rid of bump steer.

The thin ones, like the ones pictured, work with stock engine mounts. Thicker ones require at least stage 1 rotated mounts.

everything else is pretty much not adjustable, but a good alignment shop can do a 4 wheel alignment check and move the rear beam to get it perfect.

anything less than 3/16 of an inch spacer will not move the rack enough to fix bump steer.
steel insteed of alloy will work fine . You can make them yourself.

anything more than 1/4 with stock mounts will cause the rack to hit the rear motor mount. So leave it alone if you got stock mounts is my advice.

with rotated aftermarket mounts is 1/4 to low to use? or 5/16 or 3/8??
