Steering response and turn in

Does anybody know of anything that will improve the steering response of car? I find the car has an overall "dead zone" of about an inch of movement or better with no steering response. I haven't had it aligned but the car steers well and does not pull to one side or give abnormal tire wear.

Thanks.

Alignment and tire pressures are the easiest answers. 0 toe is best comprimise for performance/street use. Next on the list would be stiffer sidewall tires, control arm bushings and stiffer spring rates.

I have an LS with pedders springs and FE5 struts and shocks, steering rack spacers, FE5 front sway bar and OTTP rear bar. I have zero dead zone and amazing steering response.
