strut question for lowering 2.2

Hello, I'm looking to lower my 2.2 using springs and the fe5 struts & shocks. I went to a local auto part store today and they told me that the Monroe 72179 strut was for the ss/tc.. but whatI'm wondering is if this strut is actually the fe5 model or just fe1/fe3.

Has anyone had any experience with these struts? or know the answer to the fe1/3/5?

Also, im looking to get the lowest springs possible, ride quality is not a concern ATM, i'm searching the threads here and alot of people say b&g, h&r, eibach sportline but no unanimous answer, thank you.

I was even thinking about the ksport springs as well.. I'd like to stay the hell away from eibach, I have the pro kit on right now and am very dissapointed

yep, eibach really blows on our cars.

Go with H&R race springs, they have the lowest drop I am aware of, and get the FE5 struts from Crate Engine Depot online, so you dont have to worry about part numbers.

The only maker of the FE5 that I know of is the stock part. That part you listed is not for the FE5, it will fit an SS/TC because the suspension is interchangeable. Buy the FE5 package from CED

If you get H&R's, get the part number ones ending in ".2" or "-2", they're lower in the rear (made for SS model).

Alright, ced is 360 shipped for the package.. Not bad. Plus the 230 for the springs.. Pretty cheap to get rid of the wheel gap IMO.

And thanks toastie, I'll be sure to do that. I didn't know there was a difference

Also.. What would I want to replace while I'm doing this? Like anything that I'd otherwise have to take the struts off to do anyways

You'll be fine with struts/shocks and springs.

If you want to, get new strut mounts, might be helpful.
