Taking struts off

Hey guys, after having my new springs laying around for a couple months, I finally decided to put them on. But the first thing I'm trying to get off isn't coming, I've been spinning for ages. And is this a bolt or just the nut I'm taking off? Both are spinning and the bar it's holding isn't any further away than the other side.

This is the one I'm trying to get off (not my picture, from another thread):

Its a nut on the swaybar link stud. Try to grab that stud from the back with a set of plier, but a lot of people end up cutting them off because of that. If you get a set of moog endlinks, they have a hex on the back that allows you to use a wrench to hold them. Also, are you using an impact or just a regular ratchet?

I'm using a ratchet, I don't have an 18mm that fits the impact I have. I didn't really plan on replacing the sway bar links, but if it'll help get these damn things off I think I'll get some so it's not so bad next time.

EDIT: Got it! Put a vice grip behind and got it out fine.
