Tributes 08 'balt drum to disc + brembo + 5 x 114.3 conversion
Tributes 08 'balt drum to disc + brembo + 5 x 114.3 conversion
well. It turned out to be a long day, totally unexpected. Tribute's wheels, claimed by the wheel maker to be 5 x 114.3 and 4 x 100. are not.
4 x 100 yes, thats how he drove in.
not how he drove out.

the Brembo conversion went well.
the rotors are machined along with new bearings to 5 x 114.3 and coated in VHT paint. Knuckles are pre-prepared on an exchange basis

size is a nice upgrade, 265 mm to 315 mm.

Mike chose candy blue Brembo calipers

the rear LSJ conversion is complete (dust shields ommitted due to opening statement and ensuing lawlz)

the full kit comes with steel lines, flex lines , brackets, hand brake cables the whole enchilada
once installed and brakes bled, borrowed some wheels

who said 18 x 9.5 wont fit a slammed Cobalt?
and went to my fave tire and wheel guy and got a very good deal on msr 17's that clear Brembos without a spacer, and some super hot high performance Continental extreme all weather tires.

Color Tribute happy and paint him lighter....

his wallet is almost as lite as carbon fibre
If you want to find out more and get all or parts of our conversion kit for drum brake rear cobalts, contact gloria or john@powellraceshop.com. Kits start at a base price of $225.00. The cost escalates sharply as you add more and more options.

Little lost lol
So this 08 TC had 4x100 and was converted to disc, as it should have been from the factory.
Cool stuff...
Now I ask Mr Powell the drum to disc kit, do you have any for a 4x100? I am looking into getting discs for the rear but don't want to drop 2k for SSBC and am a little iffy on the Saturn SC rear disc swap

Lol 2.2 balt I wit u!
its same year as yours, a 2.2 08. We did the rear disc conversion last week, but I was not satisfied with the caliper positioning. I had made it just like the race cars, dropping the caliper to the horizontal, but it makes the hand brake cable routing a little tight (still worked though) but for total package I decided to remake the brackets to stock postioning and that way I can use the stock disc dirt shields (which I forgot to put on while scurrying around trying to fix the wrong wheel bolt circle/find new wheels qwik problem)
The starting price is for the brackets to convert, you go get the rest of the parts. The pricing on the rest of the stuff is in the works, but I can say that I will probably do two complete rear kits for a very good price soon, as I have enough take off parts from race cars to make that up.
Tributes car was an 08 like I said, but the corrosion on his bearings was bad, and would take a lot of cleanup, and then you have to ask yourself if you want to invest in a kit using old parts. The re-drill of rotors to 4 x 100 is sort of dicey as you have to pilot off one existing hole in an LSJ rotor. The centering ring i make to facilitate the use of LSJ rotors on the smaller 4 x 100 bearing center, will not fit UNLESS you clean off ALL the corrosion on the bearing hub center and the face. Not a difficult job, just a pita .
The rear steel lines from GM are a "bulk line purchase make your own flares" which is difficult to ask a DYI'er to do, as the GM ball flare is not ez to make and takes a decent service tool to make.

How much would the front brembo's and the hub conversion be for an 07 SS 2.4? Might not need to covert to a different bolt pattern though because they are re-issuing the rims I want to get apparently.
Any cheaper then that? I'm assuming that is all that is needed... (CrateD prices)
