I was considering getting these coilovers but want to buy from a trusted company. How many people on this forum have them? Are they holding up well, is there any corrosion from salt in the winter?

 

I had them for a month and they ride sweet, very firm ride

go to gravanatuning.com there probably the most complete source on the web right now for the cobalt no matter if your running the LSJ LE5 or the L61 like i have and they have more than just the kw variant 1 wich is what im runin on my 2.2 check em out they got a lot of stuff

 

do we use the factory strut mounts and bearings for this?

 

As far as I know, yes. I'm looking into the KW v2s myself.

 

These are a great kit and we have sold many of these, top of the line product

 

how long would it take for shipping?

 

They take about 1-2 weeks as they are special order from Germany.

 

they are well worth the wait. I got mine from ttr at least a year ago and still no problems.

 

No dampning adjustablility, so I dont like em

 

the kw variant 2's are dampning adjustable.

how strong are coilovers? do i have to worry about bending something in the coilover if i hit a pothole?

 

I was looking at the KW instructions for installing them on there website and it says the coilovers might need spacers? is this true? are they a direct bolt on or is there some modification necessary? Can I go as low as I want with coilovers with out damaging them?

 

well i didnt have to put anyspacers and the were a direct bolt-on and no modifications. But you should get a camber kit if you drop them all the way. i didnt drop mine all the way, so not sur about that.

is there a lot of clearance between the coilovers and tires? i checked rksport and they don't list them.

do you have any pics? also where did you buy them from and do you scrape a lot with the coilovers and the gmpp exhaust since the resonator is so big?

 

depends on how much you drop it......

mines all the way down in the rear with a finger width between fender and tire....front is slightly tucked lol

I base-lined my height to KW's max. spec. front and rear. Compared to stock height it's 3/4 in. lower in front and 1 in. lower in rear. No, I don't have pics. I also do not need the car any lower than it sits now. No scraping at all.

 

so you just left the coilovers the same height as they came in the box?

 

No, you need to adjust the initial setting. The directions are good to guide you through that. Fronts require 2.6in. of exposed thread and rears are 1in. exposed thread on the strut body and rear adjusters.
Also, I purchased mine through TH Motorsports. No problems at all, service and shipment were great.
I was going to do a write up about them, but nobody showed interest when I started a thread.
If your serious about a suspension system, KW is just about your top choice.

 

can air tools be used when installing these coilovers or does everything have to be torqued to spec?
