yyz v.1 vs sportlines vs pedders

unfortunately I couldn't take a full car pic on pedders for comparison, but it's roughly a 1/4 inch higher than the sportlines, but rides better than sportlines.

now it's on yyz v1 with tc strut/shocks and after couple hours of driving it, im liking the ride quality, much better than pedders since there's much more travel.

Hey John,

are v1 suppose to have so many dead coils?

edit: nvm found the answer, and in short: yes the dead coils are only there during rest, but they expand when the car isn't on load.

my other question: dead coils up or down? i went googling other sites for yyz, saw pics with them up on HHRs and down on your redline. I installed it this way cause i remember i read a thread to install them so i can read YYZ right side up.

"Whats the best spring for drop? PEDDERS!" Right.
"Whats the lowest spring? GET PEDDERS BRO".....Right.

I remember guys that wanted to slam their car and people would recommend pedders for no reason haha.

Thats because they take anything that powell has to say like hes Moses with the ten commandments lol. He also gave good information about spring rates and the like but now everyone hates pedders lol

At the time Pedders was the best advice. Things changed, we moved on. You're looking at 6 months ago, pointing and laughing. Get over it. There are plenty of other things for you to point and laugh at, I'm sure.

ijak, you're correct. We were advised that you should install them so that you can read YYZ right side up.

Exactly months ago it was proven pedders were the best handling option on lnf struts or Koni struts. I ran them for 2 seasons on my car daily driving and tracking. Handled better then the junk stances I tried out prior to the pedders fe5 setup. Something better acame out after some peddles failed pre-maturly. At least someone made something of failing parts

Guys get their dicks hard because they spent over a grand on shitty coil overs and think because he word coil over is what their part is they automatically handle better and do more then other setups out.

i mean think about it.. if you try to compress a spring against the ground it doesnt matter which way its oriented it will be just as hard/easy either way. I put my dead coils on the top so material (salt/dirt/etc) has an ever so slightly less chance of settling on them in my theory.. doesnt really matter though

Cause i read on another forum where john mentioned that dead coils should be up cause it reduces the chance of them popping out or something like that. but i dont think these babes are coming out. i had to drop the car from the jack....drive it over a speed bump before the springs fully notched on to the bottom nipple!

My Eibach Pro-kit's dead coils are on the top as well (not comparing the brands, just orientation).

Pedders still offer the best lowering corner performance of any other drop spring other than powell's. His just have better and longer engineering.

Cudos to John, but I still love my pedders over stock.

If your a track guy, YYZ all the way. They are so good and you need all that extra travel before you smack the bumpstops.

Is there a chart or something somewheres that has the rates of all or many of the lowering springs available? Would be handy to be able to compare to others/stock.

They are about a year old but have never been installed. Did Pedders make different versions like Powell did?

I think powell listed some in the YYZ thread, but not a lot of ppl want to pay to have a spring tested on a spring dyno

So was there only one version of the Pedders or did they have variations like the YYZ springs?

ive been through and tested them for my personal use but I didn't bother writing any of it down. most people couldn't know what they are reading and I don't see it of a whole lot of use unless you looking for specifics for tracking.

powells are by car the best of the best for springs. made by a very reputable company and with rates to back them. in the yyz thread john posted the rates.

I think there is 2 versions of pedders..... one where they recified the end of the coil to make it easier.

john has 2 realistic versions that are totally different the v1 vs the v2. the v3s just have a modified end coil to be tighter around the retainer since people complained they were too lose even though with the cars weight on them it wont make a difference.
