Synapse IC failure.

Synapse IC Failure. Ok a few months back my synapse IC developed a large (about 4" long) crack on the coldside lower end tank weld. I contacted Morgan at Syanpse about it and he agreed that I would ship it back and he would send me a shipping label. Well the shipping label did not come up properly in the email (red X) on all three computers I tried to open it on. Well, I emailed him back and asked him to resend the label because it would not show up. He emailed me back and it was still the same would not open. I have tried emailing him a few times to no avail. I am annoyed because I have a $500 useless chunk of aluminum sitting at my house right now. I would like nothing more than to have this issue resolved.

I do not feel I should have to pay to ship it because it is a deffective product and a well known issue with this IC.

i just got off the phone with synapse a minute ago they said i need to ship out the ic to them and they will re enforce the welds and brackets. i agree with you term i dont think i should have to pay to ship back a defective product. this is the 2nd time the weld on the end tank has cracked

Shipping this thing has got to be expensive. It is large and heavy. Mine was only on the car for 15K miles of 80% highway driving.

I agree with Term...I have this IC on my car and if something went wrong with it I would expect the vendor to pay for the shipping both ways if it's defective. Now if you hit something and screw it up, it's on you. I hope this doesn't happen to my IC...

If it is not the newer style with the reinforcment tabs welded on it it is not a question if if but when it will crack.

I'm not sure if it's the newer style or not, but I received it about a year ago. I waited for over 3 months to get the friggin thing in the first place so I hope mine has the reinforcement tabs...

I have seen this happen to several synapse intercoolers. Never heard anything like this happening to the hahn intercooler. I would be pissed , Its a hassle just to have to remove it.
