OBD port issue?

I have a scan tool, works fine in my durango RT, has the option to display IAT along with hundred of other parameters.... when I plug it into my cobalt (2006 SS/SC) nothing shows up, it doesn't read the RPMs, speed, or most importantly, the IATs. I fear that if I buy the gauge everyone runs on here, it won't work properly because something is going on with my obd2 port..... is that possible? Or what could be the reasoning the device (AP-6) works in my Durango but not my cobalt....

2 clips on odb2 port to drop the plug itself from the clip, push all wire connections back into the plug as they may be loose
Passenger floorboard kickpanel, remove it to uncover secondary fuse panel, youll see where wires are going into sort of a grid structure, go ahead and make sure everything is connected securely, check fuses
Under the hood you can pull the fuse box up by loos3ning a few screws, same situation check wires and fuses. If no luck after doing these, check specific sensors in the harness, still no luck get a multimeter and check the state of the specific wires via a continuity test. Could be a tarnished harness with broken wires inside the wire insulation.

A lot of newer vehicles are CAN bus... the LSJ Cobalts are not. Interceptors work great, but you cannot take a newer CAN bus one (which work on the 08-10 LNF Cobalts) and use it on the LSJ Cobalt.

That might be your problem. Hard to say without knowing the details of the specific scan tool that you're using.

this is the type of scan tool that wasn't working for the cobalt but worked for my durango..... I have an interceptor arriving tomorrow from ZZP one that is made for my year cobalt I hope it works

OBD2 Issue

hey guys i'm having a obd2 port problem as well and noticed a black and red wire near my fuse box unclipped but can't find out where it clips into and i think it may have something to do with it not getting power. any advice?

That's not related to the OBD2 port. That actually looks like the speed sensor plug. There aren't too many sensors on the car that use that style plug. VSS and LSJ Cam Sensor are the only ones that come to mind.

As far as the OBD2 port not reading, you can check fuses. I belive it is tied to the the 12v charger/accessory port under the radio.
