Unhappy HP tuners help! invalid vin/os

I recently decided i wanted to try to get into tuning a little bit, so i purchased hptuners. I'm currently BYT tuned, the program read the tune without a problem but i couldn't license. I got the invalid vin/os pairing error. I followed the instructions and emailed support@hptuners the files they needed. I got a reply saying that they wouldn't support the file in its current state because it's not factory. No **** it's not factory. They said to tech 2 flash back to stock, which is totally not feasible for me. There must be some way to get my program able to license my car. Can anyone help pleassssse???

I've run into this before, he may have used an '09 base file when he tuned you. Are you a Trifecta combo tune?

Email me at iambroke2@gmail.com with all the gory details of your tune, mods ect. and if you have the 3 bar MAP sensors or stock. Include the file you read from the ecu for me to compare please.

Did you use 2 credits to license It? You can't just take his file without paying to unlock your car.

You cannot tunerlock the LNF ECU's. He prob used an 09 VIN in your '08 or a mismatch of the two. The two model yeaars have different OS numbers even though the tunes appear the same. I ran into this on my own LNF after trying to go back from an '09 Trifecta layer tune on my '08.

yea mine and Dannysuer's ECUs are locked from OTTP. they use the wrong o/s when they tune it. so you have to get it reflashed to tune it

i would also like to know how to fix this issue...i just got hp tuners got everything up and running but it seems to get stuck when you scan it. Retries 3 times then fails. If you cant tuner lock it then am i missing something? From what ive read around the net i cant get a license for my vehicle till i get the scan to go through.

^^Judging from you sig, you are currently Trifecta tuned. You can not read anything off of the ecm with a Trifecta currently being loaded due to Trifecta being a custom os on the e69 ecm. Your best bet would be to flash the stock tune back via the ezflash software, read the stock file with hpt and then license your car that way.

If you have both years fully unlocked I am pretty sure you can write entire a correct os/vin tune onto your computer.

Otherwise, Tech 2, another computer, or find someone with years unlocked. If you know someone with a Trifecta cable, Vince might give you a stock tune for a cheap price, that could likely do it as well.

HP Tuners answered your question, there is absolutely no work around Ive tried. You have to go to a dealership and pay them to flash you back to stock using the tech II. Ive had this more than once and it always has to be solved the same way.

His problem was resolved. He used Trifecta to flash back to a stock file since he didn't have his own and then read the ecu, modified & loaded his HPT tune.

I'd been through this before, Vince & I helped him out.

Ok good, glad someone could. Had a similar issue over the last 3-4months with a guy locally that received a PCM from ZZP and it was an 07 pcm/vin with an 06 OS on it. Was a nightmare of an issue until we could get it to a dealership, they flashed him to stock with the right vin and I used HPT to get the car to run.

Ya, seems like a lot of 'tuners' are doing this to lock up the ecu. Not very business friendly to me, but I guess they want to protect their work. His was an '08 with an '09 OS in it. Wouldn't have been a big issue but his tuner vaporized into thin air on him.
