Super Chips Tuner FTW

Okay so they are well known in the truck world for there tuners and they recently came out with a Tuner for the TC. It was like 350.00 so I figured well that'll be sooo much more convenient than dealing with and remote tuner source such as Trifecta.

When I ordered it it specifically ask for car make model and engine details. I put 2008 Cobalt SS 2.0 Turbo Charged in the drop down menu.

Here's where it gets good. I plug into my port and it downloads the stock engine Cal. and tells me there is an update need. So i plug into PC and let it do its thing. A couple minutes go by and I get this Error msg.

"Calibration for your vehicle is not currently supported. Information about your vehicle has been sent to our engineers. You will be notified via E-mail when a super chips tune is available for your vehicle"

WTF. I call and they tell me that the turn around time for this is pretty quick so I should get the update like tomorrow or so. They claim my stock cal is "unique" lol Can some one tell me what could be "unique" about a stock ECM that has never been flashed before?

I'll let you guys know how it all plays out just in case this is a good product?

FYI it claims +40HP / 53FT LB TQ

How can they claim hp/tq numbers without even having a tune for it yet?

This can actually be pretty common, for instance with our software if its an operating system we haven't seen before you'll get a definition failed to load error...sometimes we have already built a new compile that includes the new def, sometimes we simply hadn't seen it and need to map out the new definition turning those 0's & 1's into tables with values so people understand what is in the bin.

For us the turn around depends on how many others are in que and how complex the calibration is(each is different and handled on a case by case basis).

Now I can't speak directly for superchips but when it comes to disecting the code from stock pcm's this is quite common and you will find it with any software you come across.

Situation Update:

Got the file from the Engineers and did the tune. Wow.

Its nice. I officially think the fanboys of the other tunes are dumb as hell for dealing with the hassle that comes with that crap.

Huge power diff, No CELS, Tuner is a Diagnostic also (Bonus lol), I'm boosting 22.5 PSI Max.

End story is I like.

nope, thats what Im talking about. all the trifecta guys are bent on that crap. It does say works well with most aftermarket CAI and Exhausts.

With shipping it was under 400$ I say the extra 150 is worth the hassle. Plus you always have the tuner right there to flash back to stock if need be.

How noticable are the gains? As good as the trifecta tune? Pretty easy to do?

I am looking at getting a tune and this seems like a pretty good option!

Edit: Where can I buy one from?

Thanks
