What exactly is a Tune? What does it do to your car? Like I hear ppl saying don't go stage 2 w/ 2.8 pulley without a tune.
So what exactly is a Tune? I know it's a noob question but O well. lol.

 

Fuel injection engines have multiple parameters that can be changed, tweaked or tuned for better performance or gas milage

 

^these parameters are in the cars computer and can be adjusted using software. Parameters like how much or little fuel and timing adjustments, etc...

To put it in very basic terms. All cars have to be tuned in order to run, manufactureres create a stock tune that works best for the application and put it on all of there vehicles. People say to have the stage 2 tuned by someone because they do not believe that the tune that GM released with the stage 2 kit runs as well as it could / should.

 

a tune will control how much fuel your getting (more or less, and amongst other things). if you do something to squeeze more air into your cylinders, such as a new pulley on your supercharger, then you need to re-tune the engine and tell it to add additional fuel to match the additional air you have. This way, you maintain an air to fuel ratio that wont blow up your engine or cause other engine problems
