Guys there is an important step missing here just so you no. VE tune in Open loop. this is closed loop tuning provided here thus far. I am ******* it right now cause it is summer, plus doing alot of work. I will get on that. Basically how to force open loop and tune your ve from there. you can do either way, I prefer the open loop. you can do closed loop tuning from there to fine tune if you feel it is needed.

 you'll get the 1C0000 error which if searched on our site http://www.hptuners.com/forum/search...earchid=184270 comes up with a good amount of results dating back to October of 06' when we first noticed this issue. We've added the 1C0000 description to our help file now since we still see the occasional email to support asking why their 07 TBSS or 07 Monte Carlo SS won't take a write calibration only(they use the same identical pcm as the cobalt 2.4's.

i have also noticed that sometimes the 07 ss/sc cars freak, and it takes a good 5 mins or so to get the car to connect to the laptop. i had one car that freaked me out. it would not take the tune. it took 15 mins to get it to do anything. it would get half way through the write process, and stop. so needless to say, the car was stranded. so, after 15 mins. of freaking out. i loaded the stock tune back in the car. drove it to my house so i can get net access, had to reload my serial and all the fun stuff.

is this just an 07 problem?!?!

Can't say I've heard about this until now.

That's one of my next things...getting tuned for the road. Witt, do you have any suggestions about getting our cars tuned for the non-PE stuff?

Like, how difficult would it be if I bought my own HPT program. I understand about 60% of this stuff right now. How long does it take to catch on to at least another 20% of it? How dangerous is it to try and tune this aspect of a car's VE table when you're a newbie?

not always. people don't want to take the time to sit and tweak for each car. hence why im redoing someones **** box tune next week on a 60 lb car.

Jack, you're lucky that DOC wasn't able to write the Psykostevo tune to your car! Last weekend, I did a scan on one of his tunes and if anyone can call incorrectly scaled injectors, +10% AFR errors, 6* KR and < 10 PE AFR a "tune"....
All I can say is that the cars I have tuned in person are just fine. And I agree that a car that is running like you describe would not be a good car. I have had to customize the 2.4L tunes to each car that I have tuned, since they tend to react drastically different.

On the Solstice, even their stock tunes have differed from the factory. Almost every 2.4L Solstice I have tuned has had a different Factory Tune on it.

Bill,

Not to mention that once you tune a 2.4L you have to uninstall HPTuners from your computer, and then delete the remaining files from your C: drive and then reinstall HPTuners and reconfigure everything again in the scanner.

It has been more than aggrevating to me since I do a lot of 2.4L SS and Solstice Tuning on weekends.

I have to delete everything in the Program Files and reinstall just to do ANYTHING to my GTO or 2.0L Cobalt.

Have you tried simply deleting your VCM Suite.cfg file before starting work on your GTO/Cobalt? If that doesn't work please contact support with the information listed here http://www.hptuners.com/help/index.h...mersupport.htm along with your VCM suite.cfg and we'll take a look since nobody has contacted us directly about this.

I was simply instructions sent to me by HPTuners about 6 months ago. I guess you guys must have found an easier way to get around it.

Still would be more convenient to NEVER have to do that.

I agree, its been a problem almost anytime I change between different models of cars. HPTuners has acknowledged the problem quite some time ago (I've been experiencing the problem since 2.1.12) and still hasn't fixed it.

Thankfully, I have never had that problem with my '07.
