#1 is it cold where he is?
#2 does he have water/meth injection?
#3 is he using 93 or 94 octane pump gas?

East coast 94 octane on a scale of 1-10 = 10.5 to 11
West 91 octane on a scale of 1-10 = -1 to -3

Q: if i cant find any local 93oct + will an octane boost make enough of a difference to at least test if it will help?

I know you can get that expensive stuff that ups the octane a couple points....

I don't like octane boost....It just doesn't seem to do anything. My advice, try and find a station that sells 93. There has to be a website where u can find that stuff

The only octane boost I use is a couple gallons of 101 race gas

i read that some old school guys use this paint stripper as a booster i wouldnt use it unless you do your research but it actually made a pretty big difference. and this wasnt just on old cars some guys i know have tried it on newer ones and gotten good results.

Toulene aka methyl benzine is what some people use to make home brew race gas. It's actually pretty safe from what I've read and you can buy it at any hardware store/paint store for $5-10/gallon.

Check out this link for more info:

Wow, thats pretty crazy! I usually put 3 gallons of 101 per tank. When I race, I run it down to fumes (to the point were I'm worried I won't make it to the station) then put 5 gallons in, drive it about 40-50 miles then put 2 more gallons in, THEN race just ensure I have 100% 101 octane. Boy does a car running on race gas smell good!

If you're getting knock only in 4th during a WOT run through the gears, I bet it is your IAT2. Do the dual pass, upgraded HE, or both, and you won't have a problem.

the last couple of weeks my IAT2's haven't gone over 100*...

and i don't really run through the gears, it's just any time i put it in 4th and hammer it i'm getting knock..
l
ike this

RPM 1....2...3...4.......5.......6......7... (in 4th gear)
KR...0....0...0..2.5..3.6..4.1...3.5...2.0

none whatsoever 1-3

Hmm... That is very strange, your sure your IAT2 isn't getting really high? What size pulley do you have?

well i just went and did some recording on my interceptor.....

Looks like im getting about 4* in 3rd at 4500rpm...

I picked up some octane boost and found a 94 octane pump in the city...so hopefully after i can get a full tank of 94 in it should help....
couldnt find my no-sieze so i havent changed my plugs yet.

Kinda annoying that im getting knock with only stage 2 though

My car does very similar things. If I do a WOT run 1,2,3,4 I don't get knock. But if I downshift to 4th and punch it I get knock. Its timing related. When I lower my timing it decreases or goes away.

Update: filled up with my first FULL tank of E94....(1/4 tank added last time to a 3/4 tank of 91)

so i dropped in a 7 point octane boost + a 90% tank of E94 and on the way home i started recording with my interceptor.....
after multiple runs through 1 2nd and 3rd i could NOT get my knock to even display 0.1

I opened it up and worked the car hard for about 20kms and did not see 0.1* the whole time.

I havent even installed my colder plugs yet....

I think maybe instead of saying stage 2 needs premium fuel they should state that it requires 94 octane.

because 91 oct Premium did not cut it for me.
