06 S/C vs 300c SRT-8
Oh well, for all the non-believers... Like I said... I will race my friends as soon as we get the chance from a dig, 35 and 75 roll. That will be proof enough! I heard the same thing for weeks after I beat that Evo IX MR. "that's not possible.. so on so on."
and thanks E-thug for the 1/4 mile times on them.
how much would the gearing of an srt-8 slow it down at high speed?
i think just the displacement thing helps him out on the top end. aren't our cars limited to 136 electronically?
no.. rest assured he was talking to me

if they average low 13's and he runs a 13.5 wouldn't that mean he could not have beaten one?

Doesn't matter... the stock ones trap around 105... that's what you need to look at.
You can't say "They do 13.0 in the 1/4 and we do 13.6... so there's no way we can beat them." Not saying that is what you are saying... but trust me. Camaro SS's do the 1/4 in 13.0 at 100+mph... and i beat them.
Just like our Timeslips... there are a select few who can get 14.1 and 14.2 stock... the rest average 14.4-14.7...

omfg.. am i the only one that thinks normally when it comes to a roll.. it does not matter what your 1/4 time is when racing from a dig.. YOUR ALREADY MOVING!! your at one constant speed, and then you hammer down.. it doesn't matter..
my buddies Thunderbird S/C ran a 14.5.. my best was a 14.7.. i don't remember stupid trap speeds.. anywho, we got on the highway.. and I finished him real quick because his OVERDRIVE kicked in.. he had no more *****..
at the dyno here we had a Charger SRT-8.. exhaust and intake the guy only put down 385RWHP!!
so there is many chances a Cobalt will take an SRT-8 vehicle.. they are not gods gift to speed these cars!! god damn you want a fast car buy a bike.. lol..

i totally believe the story. i had my chick in the car when i raced one from light to light. he got a nose up on me from me losing traction but i was pulling him in quick by the time the road curved. stage 2 only mod at that time.
Ummm, you can not compare the 2. Some will not even consider a bike so a car is the way to go. Plus bikes and cars feel way different. There is something about a fast car that a fast bike can't touch. It's the ability to get 2900 pounds+ moving quickly. Bikes are cool and the straightline acceleration is great but a fast car with the mass it's pushing around feels much better IMO!
Perfect time for a post STIwannabe!!! Your S/N brings up a good point! STi's... can run high 12's stock... but a Stage2 Cobalt manages to beat them on the highway. A perfect example of how you can't use 1/4 times to gauge whether or not a car can beat another car in a Roll Race. AND We've got the video to prove it! Not only that... I've got the video of me pulling on a VF23 fed, 305whp, 13.1 second WRX. And soon I will hopefully have the video of me pulling on an SRT-8 300C!

i dono about this... 350whp is 350whp...drivetrain power loss means nothing when you talk about wheel horsepower. 13.1 for a 350whp rex is TERRIBLE. that's a good 70-80whp more than a stock sti, and it is running slower times? something is fishy... did the stage two balt pull on one of the new sti's with the weird front grill? those are the high 12's/real low 13's ones, the others are not quite as fast.
alright even so, he should still have made you his bitch. i'm just saying, this is in no way the norm. whp is whp no matter how you spin it. his gearing is very close to yours, he doesn't weigh much more than you at all, and he is making probably a good 40whp+ more than you are and he should be in boost from a roll no problem. again im not calling bs, im just saying, he really should have beat you, and you are making it sound like "well everyone thought i wouldn't win against this car, but i did, so my car must be faster and every stage 2 ss/sc must be faster..." it's a good kill no doubt, i am just saying...

I don't mean to say EVERY Stage 2 SS is faster or anything like that. I'm just saying that people should doubt a fellow member's ability to beat another car based on 1/4 mile time. ESPECIALLY from an 80mph roll, which is where this thread started.
Understandable. But I've seen it as a pattern. Cars running High 12's/low 13's with traps around 105... i usually end up pulling on them. If you wanna talk to the guy with the WRX, you can... I've got his mod list as well. We are buddies.

i dont want to turn this into a **** war because it will innevitably end up with me getting banned or some stupid **** like that. i'm not going to argue with you anymore 2.4, it is not worth me getting banned, so keep talking **** if you like, i am not going to respond to you.

I think people give way too much credit from one car to another....people hear about how fast stock times are for like a WS-6 or something with a big motor and hp, and then when you hear about a car thats in a total diff class beats it..you guys totally start calling bs....i honestly dont think the better half of you have raced as much as i have...im a damn good driver and i think you are forgetting about key factors such as cold weather and gearing for this particular story.
