06 WRX vs Cobalt SS/SC
06 WRX vs Cobalt SS/SC
Hey guys new member, you guys have a nice forum and from reading through you guys seem like a very mature an open minded bunch which is few and far between these days.
Anyway.
A few months ago I raced a red Cobalt SS on route 24 in Bel Air, MD. It was about 11:30 pm, maybe it was a member I hope?
Anyway in my defence my car was new and I didnt want to go above 4000 rpm (red line 6.5k) since I was still in the break-in period per owners manual.
From the light on Wheel Rd I pull up next too a red Cobalt SS. He looks at me and I think to myself lol cobalt its on!(I know nothing about the car besides it S/C but I didnt think it was that fast).
I launch at about 3000 rpm and instantly am about 2 car lengths ahead. At about 40-45 mph he comes strolling by me. I'm like wtf. I figured even me keeping under 4k I should at least hang, not the case.
Unfortunately he never slowed down so I could give him the "nice kill thumbs up" to him or signal him to pull over so I could talk to him.
I would definately like to have another run now that I'm accustom to the car and not afraid to get on it. I've since ran the quarter mile a few times with better results each time and I feel it would be a better race now.
Anyway like I said nice forum you guys got here looking forward to chattin it up with some of you SS owners....

Welcome to the sightI just wanted to clarify before I get flamed for street racing.
He was probly modded with the 3" S\C pulley or something. A few of us have run high 13's with just a pulley and intake. I've got that setup with GMPP exhaust manifold and 3" Cat back and it pulls nicely. Got a little too cocky yesterday and got walked by a modded EVO MR.
