07 Cobalt SS/SC vs 05 Mustang GT

So basically it looks like this, I have a 07 Cobalt SS/SC Stage 2 w/ a 2.9" Pulley, Injen CAI, Magnaflow exhuast, TTR Race Transmission Mounts, Ingalls ETD, and SSC lowering springs and a close friend of mine just bought a 05 Mustang GT w/ Injen CAI, ARK Cat-Back Exhaust, 4.10 gear ratios, and an FRPP suspension package. We were out driving one night and just decided to do some quick runs to test out his new car and the first was from a roll going about 35 mph to 120 mph and i pulled about 2 cars on him. The second time we were at a red light and we started from a dig and off the line he had me at 1-2 cars and all i could do was stay in range lol. The last run we did we were rolling again at about 20 mph and went to 100 mph and stayed pretty close and kept about 1/2 to 1 car length. Personally I like those GT's, my friend picked up a good deal on it too, looks and runs great. I definitely believe they are pretty fast or at least from the experience I've had with them. Let me kno what you guys think? Thanks

heavally modded they are fast. not so much stock, and pretty slow slightly modded. be like raceing a 04 gto stock. put some simple mods on it and still nothing special. looks like you did alright against the gt. congrats on the roll wins. digs are where the stang shines..

Thanks. The GT's are nice tho I have to admit and i agree with you from a dig they get off that line a lot smoother than a SS.

off topic but hey sounds like you got a pretty nice GTO. I am a fan of those. How do you like it?

He needs a tune. Without the tune he isn't really adding any power. Give it a flash and he'll pick up ~20+ rwhp and more torque across the board.

With a tune and good driving he should be in the 12s. Sounds like he shoulda dropped another gear on the first roll.

Good runs. But as was said he badly needs a tune. He can also gain a bit of power from the ecomony imrc plates. Those with headers and a good x pipe will help a good deal!

I agree with you, I was telling him that he would be surprised with the gains he could achieve from just a tune but he insists that he outfit himself with more bolt ons first which i don't think is a bad idea either. We'll see, building a car seems to be never ending anyway!

Yea, i have a feeling he started at the bottom of third and i started in the top of 2nd so i hit my power band first which jumped me ahead those couple cars. It would have been a better run if he dropped a gear like you said tho.

Thanks. It wasn't a really serious run or anything just kinda wanted a gauge for how strong his car was. I wanted constructive criticism on his part so i kno other people are on the same page as me. I know the GT's have a lot of potential if the car is equipped with the right mods, so this is great. Hopefully a tune will be the next thing on his list!

Thanks guys for the posts tho
