08 Mazda Speed 3

Okay so there's this kid in my town that just got a MS3 over the summer and thinks it's the greatest car in the world. He got it and Mommy paid for all his mods. Stage 2 Cobb Access port, bigger top mount intercooler, Corksport exhaust, intercooler piping, turbo inlet piping, and a HKS SSQV. Said he's at 320 whp.

I have a 3 in. Hahn catless downpipe, Hahn catback exhaust, Dejon SRI, Dejob charge piping with an HKS SSQV, and a tune. Around 290-300 hp.

He just always talked **** on Cobalts and didn't believe me when I said Stage 2 SS/SCs walk MS3s. I always told him that if he wanted to talk ****, he could race me whenever he'd like, from a roll or from a dig. Since August he came up with every excuse. Finally, last night we lined up. Did two runs from a dig and two from a roll.

First run from a dig

We line up, my other friend does three honks and we go. I half it in first gear and I'm spinning non stop. NLS into second, and I'm spinning some more. At this point he's like a foot ahead of me. Before I NLSed into third I was inching ahead of him. By the end of third I was like 2 cars ahead and still pulling past him. Win for me.

Second run from a dig

Line up, spin through all of first and second, bang all my gears right and I'm bus lengths in front him by fourth gear. He said he missed third.

First roll

Did a third gear 40 roll, three beeps, stomped it and we're even until about the top of third. NLS into 4th and pull ahead of him. Ended up beating him by about 3 cars.

Second roll

Second gear 30 roll. Stomp it, spin like crazy, NLS into third, stay even for a little and pull ahead of himby the end of third. NLS into fourth to seal the deal and beat him again by like 3 cars.

Definitely my favorite kill. I should have been arrested for rape and murder last night.

320whp? haha no not with those bolt ons unless he got a downpipe and a custom cobb tune.

Not a bad race, the gearing on the ss is far superior for racing, my ms3 seemed faster than my ss, it does have more torq. the ss/tc i did race i wasted him..although cuda claims his traction control was on

Very nice.

Raced an SRT4 yesterday from a 60 roll and put a length on him by 100. Not sure what all of his mods were but that thing was super loud and had at least a canned tune.

I would agree, also anyone that brags like that ms3 owner obviously has a complex and probably sucks at driving. But the ss is lighter and gearing is much better for this type of racing. I need to race some ms3's in mn, im still on the forum and I got one modded friend that wants a run see what happens.

He does have a catless down pipe, I'm pretty sure. I don't know if it was custom tune or anything. He had the Cobb Access port hand tuner thing in his car so I guess it was just a canned tune.

they seem to do almost similar to mods as the tc/ss but the canned cobb tunes arent the greatest although the most recent beta one was actually pretty good. imo he should of done better, but it could be he sucks at driving.

good kill though, the nls really does help

NLS is No Lift Shifting. It allows the driver to up shift without letting off the excelerator.

Good kill man! He definitely needs a downpipe though if he wants to open it up though. Then again a downpipe swap on a Speed3 is a nightmare of a task.

interesting. my friend made 308 with a turbo back, intake, hks b.o.v., and inlet. if he got a turbo back it definatley would have helped quit a bit

He's awful at driving. He kept saying the shifter was fucked up and would only go in a little bit into third and not go in completely. He said it was like it was stuck in neutral. He told me to drive it and get on it and go into third. I got in it, started it up, launched and it banged first to second and second to third just fine. He was astonished. Haha.

Shifting wise it felt fine, I guess. It wasn't as quick as I thought "320 whp" was going to be in that car.

Don't they limit "WOT" through the first few gears?
But I assume the Access Port would have dealt with that.

Your 3rd gear must be a beast. I would have been in 2nd, specially for a 30 roll. Nice kills though!

the MS3 has a boatload of torque. it feels more then the SS/Tc even though they are pretty damn close, with the edge being the ms3 by just a bit.

Overall, I like the MS3 much much more
