I had a great MS3 kill one night long ago. I find the owners only come in two flavors, very cool people that can appreciate faster cars, and ******** that think thier Mazda 3 hatchback is the ultimate street racing machine.

I ran into the latter, he absolutely refused to believe that I could beat him, made a major scene in front of all his boys at a gas station meet one night. Ran his mouth and talked **** until I told him to run me and stfu. Ran him with my girl in the car, gave him his roll, and beat him so badly even she was like "wait, I thought his car was supposed to be fast?" He had pretty decent work done, but there was no way any MS3 with any amount of bolt-ons/tunes/race gas/whatever was gonna beat my yellow car.

^I think yellow adds like 20 whp. Ive only lost to an evo which i wasnt expecting to beat...has CIA intake, manual boosted stock turbo, pretty sure it has a turbo back exhaust as well. I didnt get the start i would have like to get however for the conditions he only walked a car from me up to 80 which is where we let off. Illl be racing him again next weekend cuz its my best friend...hopefully the sun is out this time and those 20 extra hp kick in lmao

I had great success and great failure against evo's.

First nice kill was a fully bolted 27psi/race gas one, stock turbo but everything else changed, full exhaust, charge piping, FMIC, all that good stuff. Ran him 3-4 times from varying rolls he wanted, beat him 2-3 carlengths every run. His buddy filming made my day, first vid, as I pull away smoothly at like 80-90mph, he's like "damn that car moves". I wish I could have gotten a copy of that video

Second, amazing victory was a beautiful dark gray evo that was down at one of the race meets from Tampa. Now, obviously, people don't travel with stock cars, and I could hear the cams a mile away. I made the comment about the car having cams, my boy goes "wanna run it?". I say no, he takes off. Comes back, says he's gonna run me. I head out with him, like 30 cars follow us to watch, I know i'm totally fucked, but i'll take one for the team. He asked for a 40 or so, we line up, I hear this ******* monster next to me start brake boosting and I just pat the bottle for good luck and hope for the best. As we roll out, I get the jump, hear this thing fully spool and creep back to my window... and shift. I held the half car lead until about 100, when I started to steadily pull away. Got back, people were in shock, rumors about the Cobalt were all over the place

I also blew up twice against Evo's (both victories though, so FTW!). Both black. First time was a piston, second time was a sleeve.

No, I meant 40 roll in 3rd. I told him he could start at whatever speed/gear he wanted and I still whooped him.

Also, yeah it did feel a little more torquey. It wasn't bad. I like them. They ride nice, interior is sweet, but the outside is lacking for me. I don't know. Plus just the fact that the kid I beat owns one makes me never want one. Haha.

Agreed, met a guy at a meet the other night who had a Speed3 and said he wished he would've brought it because it would have been a fun run with the slight edge going to the Balt. Real nice guy we had some fun driving back to the city when he was on his bike.

Thanks, man.

Yeah, I didn't get it. He wanted it like that, I don't know why. I let him have it his way and I still blew the doors off of him. Another win for Cobalts.

Most modded turbo balts will have the, covered, a few SS/SC's will have them also. but for their weight they move. Friend ran a 13.7 on street tires roasting them off through 3rd. and this is on the shittiest track ever. Anyone who knows Beaver Springs knows its not the greatest. Uphill and track prep doesnt exist.

rallyracer's stage 2 sc/ss didnt beat my ms3..but it was kinda close. its just the gearing on the ss is so much better, he stayed in 2nd the entire time while I had to shift into 3rd and the ss is lighter by like 300 lbs or so. Good competition.

I agree. I heard the kid I raced shift into third a couple seconds before me and I was still in second burning rubber. He actually screwed up his shifter while racing me. When he pushes down on the shifter to put it in reverse it sticks and you have to yank it back up. He was gonna replace it with a stock one but I just told him if he's going to replace it, you might as well upgrade it so now he has a short shifter on the way.

thats the exact same thing my friend and i complained about, you row through the gears wayyy to much in the 1/4, and it wastes alot of time and momentum. longer gears would help it out a good bit.

baaahahhaha that happened to me too to my shifter when I was autox'ing at a air port. Had it replaced under warranty, but it happens usually when you shift too hard or with out thinking into 3rd. I like the pull up ring on the ss better because of that reason.

yeah they redid gearing in the 2010, but I heard from someone that test drove one, it wasnt very much. I'd like to test drive one to see though for myself.

The thing is, you have to be as happy as the car you're driving looks...no easy task in any new Mazda.

Yeah, I told him just to go to the dealer to replace it but he doesn't feel like flashing back to stock and putting all his stock **** back on. If he were smart he'd replace the stock one before he put the short shifter on so he could put a stock one back on when he sold the car or traded it in.

yeah the twm or cobb STS would be a upgrade, along with shifter bushings, just like the SS the ms3's shifter feels MUCH better with shifter bushings alone! Im about to order the bushings for my ss. Kid kinda sounds dumb...good thing you beat him I just like having multiple car companies making sport compacts, competition makes the next year or generation better from updates to the platform. ie. the cruze ss if it did release, probably has hid and a WAY nicer interior. I kinda miss the ms3...be nice to have both cars

all i have is OTT stage kit, fujita CAI, a home ported TB, H/E and stu mod

Yeah, pretty sure he got the TWM. And yeah.... he really is an idiot. I drove past his house and saw him fiddlin around on his car so I stopped by and I saw him spraying his wheels and emblems. He asked me what he should do. I told him sand, prime, paint, and clear. and all he did was paint. A LOT. Needless to say his wheels and ALL emblems are now all chipped up and look like ****. Why ask if you're not gonna listen? Haha. I'm gonna post up pictures of his car. Let me find em.

Notice the chips in his wheels and emblems and the AWFUL vinyl. He said he's "sponsored".
