09 Cobalt SS/TC vs Nissan Skyline
The skyline would be a early 90s r32 gtr. Just curious, try going off of stock vs stock if possible. What do you guys think would happen, Also from a drag and then from roll and also road courses.

He'll put 4+ cars on you in the first 60 feet from a dig. Roll who cares and on a road course he'll hand you your ass.
R32's are the lightest of the skylines with 320+ horsepower

""This week **** hit the fan in Kaizo, it's getting worse. A reliable source is filtering info down the channels that a certain turd that got caught has been spilling the beans and cooperating with agents, giving them the entire who what when where why of the deal. This goes for not only Kaizo but every other method and car, even the grandfathered Motorex cars are being inspected at RB motoring and all over. Those of you that have shipped in the past, hide it. Those of you thinking or trying to ship, don't. This **** storm is ranging from not only the sources of bringing them in but also various forums. I'd recommend people to not disclose any information regarding their vehicle or themselves, for those who have shipped before. For those who have registered their stuff in the U.S. using the JDM vins... good luck, if you havn't then I wouldn't attempt it at the moment."
"The man who owns the company "Kaizo" is Daryl, this stuff is not like the little he said she said petty **** from previous years and months. Cars at Kaizo have been seized this week as well as inventory computers, RB Motoring was paid a visit as well. Next step will be the DMV's to track the Kaizo VIN's as well as JDM VIN's for cars that didn't go through Motorex or Kaizo which is why I'm hoping to warn people ahead of time.
Put it this way, when Sean Morris starts getting phone calls about it then it's no joke, and this is that time. "
When Sean Morris (aka Tyndago/RBmotoring/Motorex) says,
"I had a call earlier today that ICE , DOT, and CARB had been at RB today doing some investigating. The investigators looked at a couple of the ex-Motorex cars, called the DOT and ended up leaving from RB. I called over to Kaizo to see what was happening over there, and I was informed that they were in the middle of it...Three cars got seized, along with records, and computers. Included in the three cars seized was the actual hero car from Fast and Furious 4. We will have to see how this plays out over the coming weeks and months."
This is the convo we're hearing from this side of the pond...just spreading the word if anybody has something that might have anything to do with this... If anyone doesnt know who Daryll is , he is the one that got the first R35 GTR in the USA from nissan north america. He was importing R34 GTRs and selling them as KAIZO cars. They had 17 digit vin numbers, etc.
Now his contention was they were unibodys so he was basically selling kit cars.
Seems the feds feel otherwise. This might be bad news for anyone with a state titled car per its JDM Vin number. "
And this little tid bit from Sean Morris, of Motorex....
"It is common to think that R33's can be legally imported and converted per Fed standards and driven on the road. It's it is just the R32 & R34's that are the problems; in reality no one can actually do it though. Passenger side airbag was an option in 1995, so the DOT (OVSC) excluded 1995 cars. This made only 1996-1998 R33's eligible. However, since there is no approved OBD II system for R33's, then it makes it impossible to bring it into compliance in accordance with the 3520-1(EPA import document).
Anyone saying they can do it is full of it; All R33's are illegal"
Motorex and others are "seizing to exist" as we speak

the OP is talking about importing an R32. You can classify it as a classic car or collector at that point. Can't remember the exact terminology, but i believe if it's older than 15 years or so, you are exempt from emissions standards.

Stock for stock:
Chevy Cobalt curb weight = 2,815-3,001
R32 GT-R curb weight = 3,146
Chevy Cobalt hp = 260
R32 hp = 276 (the race spec RWD R32 ran 313hp)
Given weight and drivetrain loss these are a pretty even match up.
The stock R32 ran the "ring" in 8:22:38
The stock Cobalt SS ran the "ring" in 8:22:85
Again it's a pretty even match up, at least on paper with stock numbers. Real world, it's a drivers race.
Modded you can forget about it. The R32 is a beast and the RB26DETT is matched only by the 2JZ in terms of hp ability. However this is still a 15-20 year old car and what was amazing 20 years ago in much more easy to accomplish today.
Here are some stock 0-60 and 1/4 mile times of previous sports cars to put things into perspective:
1992 Corvette ZR-1....................0-60 5.6.....1/4 mile 13.9
1989 Ferrari Testarossa..............0-60 6.2.....1/4 mile 14.2
1994 Ford Mustang Cobra...........0-60 5.4.....1/4 mile 14.0
1982 Lamborghini Countach........0-60 5.7.....1/4 mile 14.1
1987 Lotus Esprit.......................0-60 5.6.....1/4 mile 14.3
1994 Toyota Supra Turbo...........0-60 5.3.....1/4 mile 13.7
As for importing the R32...
The Motorex and Kaizo cars are getting hit pretty hard, but the original R32 has hit the 20 year mark now and importing them as legitimate classics (16 years old) should be much easier now than it was 10-15 years ago.

I live in Canada, ANYTHING 15 years or older can be imported. All you have to do is meet enviromental standards and your good to go. Sucks to be an American sometimes doesnt it.
At the moment I wont be importing one as I have found a race platform (street legal) gtr that was imported not long ago. I might work on importing a R34 in a few years once they are legal.
Trust me, I will be far from stock

buy tthe car. remove the engine. ship them in 2 diff crates. get them here. put them back together. register it as a parts car. bam.
or drive it over from canada. thats easy too.
getting it licensed is difficult. even if u have hookups at the dmv.
