The '05 Neon SRT-4 is was inspired me to get a domestic low displacement. I test drove the CSRT-4. They are nice IMO, but my wife was not into it. Specially for $28,000+ ... i was not "that" into it myself. The '05 SRT-4 for around 21,000?? Why not?? 4 door.. was not my favorite, but WoW feature was there!
Like some others have said, the aftermarket support base is all there. MOPAR FTW, but Chevy is awe inspiring in the V8 market. I am excited to see what the aftermarket will be like for us LNF LSJ folk in a couple of years. I mean.. ZZP, Werks, TTR, and others are really making head way for us! I think of it that we are new in terms of the Chevy side of it, and the GMPP group with its money issues. Things hit us all at once. However, the aftermarket tuners are really making leaps and bounds! Bouch ECM's and such have put a damper on things, but it's turning into blue sky's...one day at a time. Comparing stage kits to stage kits.. Look at what was needed for the SRT-4's Neon/Caliber on the stage 1 to get the numbers they got?? How much did they cost?? Total invested for what % increase in HP/TQ? Compare that to the SS/TC stage 1? I know mechanically a few sensore upgrades and a minor tune and we are sitting on how much HP/TQ? $400 SRT-4 to our roughly $500 Stage 1... then the $1600 SRT-4 Stage II is = SS/TC Stage I. All in all.. a 2.4 compared to a 2.0 ... It's all in what you want to drive. The upgradable platforms are both amazing in terms of performance, but the SS/TC set the all time front wheel drive world record. I like them both, but drive an SS/TC.

That is because a stock CSRT4 is the slowest car on the planet, Theyre throttle percentage is terrible, thats why Mopar stage1 was released to help that issue.

Stock for stock and mod for mod, the old NSRT-4's aren't going to keep up with the TC. It's simply turbo vs. turbo. Cobalts come with a bigger turbo, which holds much higher boost all the way to redline.
Gotta fight tooth and nail to get a stock SRT-4's turbo to hold 17psi to 6k. Mine drops to about 14-15. Not much i can do, it's a tiny ass turbo. I'd LOVE to be making the kind of tuned numbers a TC can make, but it's just not realistic. I'd need meth injection or e85 with every bolt-on i can muster just to keep up. Thank god there's so many big turbo options available.
I guess I should be thankful Chrysler set the bar so high and my car is as fast as it is. I'd hope most Cobalt guys would show nothing but respect for Chrysler bringing out such a monster in 2003. I expect the TC in it's current form would not even exist otherwise. I definitely respect GM for bringing their A-game when it came to competing with it (dominating it).

stock srt4 vs stock ss/tc is a drivers race.
Give me an srt4 on a cold November/December test and tune at Cecil County Dragway and I could probably match the time I got with the Cobalt.
