1.8 Turbo vs SS/SC

So yesterday I'm leaving my college and get on the highway. In front of me is this really annoyying 1.8 turboed passat or jetta (idk vws for ****) he keeps reving his car up while at a red light when four cars back WTF? so i got on the highway behind him. so we get to a straightaway and he floors it. i say **** it and floor my car too. I was bout four cars behind at the begining when we hit it around 45 mph. by the time i was in third gear i was on his rear bumper. needless to say i pulled on him unbelievably hard. mods include custum tune 2.7 60s full exhaust and intake. gonna try to find him at the college cause a buddy of mine knows him and wants me to race one of the other VWs that supposed to be fast. so hopefully ill have a video to post later this week.

they're rare. at least in jersey. most kids with them here only have a fart can, intake and a boost controller = slow as hell.

Hating on the VW's! My bud has a GLI (jetta 1.8 T) with exhaust, intake, and chipped to 15-18 psi. His car is pretty quick, but any stage two balt should be able to pull him. I'd say he has around 230-250 to the wheels. Any turbo swap and the 1.8 T has some great potential!

i dont think so man.... i used to own a VW and know a litle bit. I was running 18psi an i was no where near that to the wheels an it was an 01... and my buddy's 05 Has a few more mods then your buddys an its an 05 an he dyno'd at only 201 to the wheels......... i think with a K04 swap they could be kinda quick like in the 13's

btw..... im pretty sure 01's to 03 or 04's are 150hp base and the 05's are 180hp base. I know for sure the 05's are 180hp base

an the 01's for sure are 150hp base.. i dont know exactly which year they changed though

I had an '02 Jetta with the AWW Engine. It had 180hp stock and ran on .8bar which I believe is 11-12 psi. The 01's had the AWP Engine with only 150hp because they were at .6bar

Metric boost.

1 bar = about 14.4 psi
