2.4 SS vs. Counter 24v DOHC V6

well I raced a contour last night from a dig and I barely beat him by a foot or two. Plus I had an extra tire in the trunk cuz I was trying to sell it at a car meet earlier that night. So maybe if I didn't have the tire I would have pulled him a little bit more.

Was this a Sport or SVT contour?

The regular contour V6 only has 170HP... should be a pretty easy kill... but having an extra 50 pounds in the trunk can be a killer.... the SVT version is up tuned to 200hp... so it's pretty stout.

I don't think it was a SVT I only saw the 24v DOHC emblems. so it probably was the regular V6

i have to disagree with that statement... my cougar turned 16's on the quarter

those duratecs suck and just about everyone that has one will tell you they're good for dependability but they just don't have any ass at all

it's also the reason i drive a cobalt now.

<edit> the fastest time i seen from an na 2.5 duratec was a 15.2... and that was with i/h/e p&p heads and about half the interior taken out

There is a huge difference between the 5 speed and the automagic like you had. So.... And 15.2 as the fastest time? Plenty of guys are running in the 14's on newcougar.org. If you are talking about the same guy im thinking of, isnt he running low 14's with weight reduction. I still have my 01 Cougar V6 BTW, and your absolutely wrong in thinking that every one will tell you "they suck and just dont have any ass".
