2.4 vs 8th gen SI

^Cobalt SS T/C, me, 300c Hemi V8 modified, full bolt on S2000, full bolt on SVT Cobra
Cobalt rapes all of us, well the Cobra is over 300 whp and they haven't directly raced..... BUT it being a Ford, the T54 took a crap and he had to drive home in 1st at 20 mph for 10 miles later that night!

Their gearing makes them quick though....

But yeah they're disappointingly slow
I had a go with the latest gen one (8th I'm pretty sure) on my way back from college and I took him pretty good, and yeah he was loud as #@$! he was giving it hell beside me with my windows down and it was deafening
Its a shame though because I'll admit I do like the way the newer ones look, and I LOOVVVEEE the Si's transmissions, those 5 speeds shift smooth as butter.
oh and I'm fully bolted/tuned/5speed

The majority of SI owners are ignorant teenagers or ignorant 20-25 year olds. They dont know how to mod their car or what actually gains power. Match that with a lack of driving skill and you will see a lot of slow ones. I gurantee with me behind the wheel it would be much closer. Not saying Im amazing but it surprises me how many people dont know when to shift or even race from a roll....
Miller, dont go to other forums looking for a fight, it makes us look bad. Keep it on V6P

a POS rustang automatic losing to an S2000? not impressed. besides even an s2000 isn't that fast..
on topic... i raped an 8th gen civic badly... that same civic beat an SS/SC with intake and exhaust a week later. a member on here actually and he as pretty upset about it... just sayin'
as for a 2.4 NA cobalt beating an 8th gen? just can't see it unless the 2.4 isn't stock or the civic driver can't drive.

Civic Si's are quick, but not overly impressive. If you have anything with a good torque curve you will take one down. I test drove a few 8th gens before getting my ss\sc and the cobalt is almost night and day for how hard it pulls. Then again, between making torque and not having to wait until 55-6000pm for vtec to cross over to make any power I can see why.
Honda is very good at one thing, making their cars fun to drive. In my opinion the SI was a more "fun" car to drive, it felt like you were flying at all times because the engine is loud and gets louder with the cross over. It also handled very well, and obviously had better interior quality.
Also I just wanted to add a friend of mine has a 09 matrix xr..it has the 2.4 I think its around the same specs as a 2.4 ss. Anyways the matrix beats(1-2 car lengths) 8th gen si's all the time. All it has is a intake. Again torque comes into play. But like everything, if you want to see which car is actually faster go from a stop.

2013 accord 0-60 in 5.6 1/4 in 14.1 @ 276hp
not to open a can of worms but my buddy has a 6 speed accord coupe. he says it's decently fast.. maybe setup a race for the spring and see how fast it is.

Since I work at a Honda dealer I get to drive the new 2013 v6-6speed and they are awesome. Nothing like getting paid to drive brand new cars. I have a 2004, and with all my mods its a bit faster than the 2013 but the styling of the new Accords cant be beat IMO. Plus there will be parts for them in no time.
