745i vs. ss s/c WTF???

ok before you mess with me about this one: i suck at racing my cobalt! i can drive it fine but am still practicing the launch. this guys saw me whip it past him.. pulls up to the light.. we go for it on green. i had a better r/t than him, yet he walked a bit in first due to the infamous traction probs. then in second i pulled pretty hard, had him by a nose, then missed 3rd cause i got so excited that i was winning. i thought these things were supposed to be german engineered quickness... it didn't seem that way. correct me if i'm wrong, but if i knew how to drive i think i could have walked him. is it possible he may have let off and then got back on? when i was in second he was definitly WOT.
NE1 else race one of these? i don't care who hates on the cobalt.. she's definitly not slow

BMW 745
Engine Type 4.4-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine with aluminum block and aluminum heads
Horsepower 325 @ 6,100 rpm
Torque 330 @ 3,600 rpm
Curb Weight 745i - 4376 lbs, 745iL - 4464 lbs.

Cobalt SS/SC
Horsepower 205
Weight 2806 lbs

Cobalt Weight/Power = 13.68 lb/hp
745 Weight/Power = 13.46 lb/hp

Seems like a pretty even match to me.

those things are no joke even though they are heavy as hell. they run very similar 1/4 times to us. the 750 runs slightly quicker even. the 760... watch out for those! haha even though i have never heard of any of these racing. this thread is a first.

i agree, that car is big as hell, and just like the range rover sport, fairly impressive, considering the size of it. i bet they drive real nice too.

doesn't count because there numbers arent to the wheels mean while our car actually makes our claimed HP to the wheels.

You're measuring horsepower, not torque. Even then, SS/SCs would have a better shot at winning.

Agreed. If you took the average of most people's dyno #'s on here of 210-220 whp, and then calculated the crank hp from those numbers, our power to weight ratio would be closer to 12 lb/hp, or even lower.

funny thing is our cars are heavier than claim but have more HP than claim so it kinda evens out but not really.
