87 monte carlo SS vs cobalt ss/sc info

Ok well this week im gona be racing this guy with an 87 monte SS but i was wondering if anyone know anything about these cars as far as different engines go? I don't know a lot about them but i know that they come stock with a 305 correct? with around 190hp i think.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2f0QMZvLlM this is a race between us when he was running a 305 with I/H/E and big ass shot of n2o

Now he is running a 327 with a new rear end and a bunch of other goodies. How much power are the 327's pushing out? Just tring to figure out if im gona have to throw on my
n2o kit for this one.

B.T.W...this race will be hapening at the track

Hmm it could suprise you. My friend built an 76 Monte with a mild 327 for his wife. She ran a 14.2 @ 100mph, Its a full street car, complete interior and 2 subs in the back.

Too difficult to tell. The "bunch of other goodies" part could be anything. I dropped .5 seconds off my 1/4 mile when I added a torque converter. Nothing else changed.

aslong as it has a smaller engine in it you should be fine...unless those "other goodies" is a turbo setup

That Monte weighs in at almost 4000 pounds!!! They were turds! Unless that 327 is seriously done you have nothing to worry about.

A built 327 can be nasty fast. A stock 327 I'm not so sure about. Were did he pick up the 327 from?

People who buy crate motors usually buy high performance ones. Since a 327 is known to be rev happy, it takes well to mods. Watch out, it may be fast.

It could be anything from a slow dog to a street beast. It depends on whats all inside the 327. The factory 305 H.O. was rated at 190hp and and in 87 came with a 200r4 and 3.73 gears. Stock they were low 15 sec cars so you should asume its faster than that. Oh and btw the curb weight is 3239lbs not "4000lbs"
