No......the ecotec will not be the engine going into the Matrix/Vibe. Toyota would much rather use their own engine.

Some specs for both cars:
All models except the XRS come with a 1.8L vvt-i engine with 132hp and 128 lb/ft tourque.
The XRS for both cars come with a 2.4L vvt-i engine with 158hp and 162 lb/tf tourque.
AWD will be offered with the base Matrix and the "S" model. The XRS still does not get AWD.
