Back in 2000 when I had my GT I beat one of my buddies in his LT1 it was a close race but I won by 1.5 cars from a dig to 100. Your average driver cannot make a stock LT1 run faster than 14.0.

Is that the stock intake on that thing? With some head work and a cam with exhaust does that really flow enough, would it not benefit from a CAI of some sort?

BTW, show that thing some TLC....

Still always have loved that style!

Hahaha all he has is a CAI intake and you walked a lt1 or a ls1 from a dig. Are you kidding me. Then you claim you walk them all the time. Wow maybe the camaro driver started off in third gear.
Lemme go get the boots...the bullshit is starting to pile up high.

If you're talking to me... no it's not a stock intake. I posted a brief mods list. It has a K&N cool intake. Only thing stock in the engine bay is the throttle body. I used to have a bbk 58mm but traded it off for rebuild money

Also as for TLC. I've had this car for ten years, not to mention it's a 96, and it's been through three rebuilds

[QUOTE=Terminator2;3514134]LT1s are slow most run mid to high 14.s. 13.3 at 107 If someone made a stock LT1 run 13.3 they could make a stock TC run 12.9. They are only 245 whp and 3400 lbs no way.[QUOTE]

If you were so educated you might have known this, why don't you take alook around before spouting off?

Many LT1's with the "man pedal" dyno over 260, go check out the f-bod forums and you would already know that.

Second, here are a list of magazine times for the LT1 motors. The forums also have members that are running mid to low 13's stock with again the "man pedal". Sure they are not trapping 110 like the LS1's but they still trap mid 100's. Not to mention I bet a good portion of LT1's with the "man pedal" would drag any stock cobalt down the 1/4 mile. Granted from a roll it would be a good race, but we are talking a track here.

1991 Pontiac Firehawk 350 V8 350 13.2 107 Car and Driver

1996 Chevrolet Camaro SS LT1 350 V8 310 13.46 106.48 Muscle Car Review

1993 Pontiac Firehawk LT1 350 V8 300 13.5 103.5 Motortrend

You want me to keep going? LT1's are not "slow" as they are faster then stock cars on this forum, and if the cars here are considered fast then what does a LT1 get called?

BTW, to get down the 1/4 mile fast you need a little something called torque. Hence the reason a lowly 260 whp 3400lb car can get down the 1/4 faster then a 250ish whp 2900lb car. They are putting down almost 300 ftlbs, but you wouldn't know anything about torque now would you?

LT-1's might be dated motors and their glory of the mid 90's gone, but they're still respectable motors. Keep in mind the motoring press is praising the 370Z any many newer cars for their 13 second passes in the quater, something the Z/28 did in 1993.

Yeah but the Z/28 isn't doing it with a 6cyl either. Besides that the 370Z and these other cars they are praising have way better fit and finish and handling abilities... They aren't just praising its 13 second 1/4 time...

It is kind of funny when you look at the people that get a little defensive and come in here when their car is mentioned. Us GTO guys obviously, F-Body guys, LS2Guy and his C6 buddies, cobra, M3, ect. I am going to try something here so sit tight please.

The other day I got into a four way race on the highway and couldn't believe how bad I beat the other guys. I lined up against a Lincoln MKX, Honda Element and VW Ruton. With out even taking it out of 6sixth I slowly proceeded to walk all the contestants from 65-110. All I hear about is how great these cars are from magazines but I beat them pretty soundly all the while getting 16.8mpg on the digital read out.

In before the Honda/Lincoln/VW guys show up and call me out....

I wasn't knocking the 370Z, I like what they did with the car. I was just trying to state the LT-1, while dated, is still competitive with some of the newest cars.

ANY and i repeat ANY v8 with the right amount of displacement can still be competitive with the right work and when compared with certain cars, even stock. The 370z should be able to hit 12's stock with perfect conditions and the right driver. Far beyond lt-1 capabilities. The lt-1 is not a bad engine per say and was great in it's day, but is absolutely nothing special anymore. It's just got to be taken for what it is, a v8 with lots of displacement, so there's some good potential.

many good points but lets remember, the lt1 paved the way for the ls2, ls3, ls7, etc etc.........so it is special in that regard

and i would love to see someone run a 12 with the 370!
