-Manual well-cared-for 5.0's are certainly capable of high 14's as well, with some running as low as low 14's stock. The fastest of which are the notchbacks which weigh about what a SS/SC weighs, has a similar amount of power, much more tq, and can get out of the hole like a relatively light RWD V8 should. (I've heard of high 13's also, but I'll stick with low 14's)... of course stock 5.0's are fairly rare. Most are either modded or ragged out by now.

true...

if anything you should be weary at any 5.0 you come across... there where most of the dark horses lie.. i should know.. i have one sitting in the garage
when mine was stock i ran a 14.3@98mph spinning through first.. magazines are off like hell on the 5.0 times its not even funny.. ive never seen a 5 speed 5.0 run slower then a 14.8 (good runs only) except for autos with the slowest being a 15.5'ish..

quickest i've seen was a notch that ran a 13.6 stock with the avg notch running between 13.9-14.4 stock

Beware of the 5.0, I have a frien who has a high 11 sec. white coupe. He plays around all the time and its his DAILY DRIVER! Yes I hope you guys understand about the 99-02 cobras, there the slowest ones. Also I would like to make a video. To give you an idea of how hard I can launch dead even with an 04 STI from a stop thru first and he inches on me thru second and then pulls in third. By the time the race was over he was about 2-3 cars in front of me. I think someone has a video of it. I know your not gonna believe me so I'll try to find that video.

I sorta-kinda believe you. I raced a stock Evo (dealer tag on it still) from a 5mph roll, and my front bumper was on his back bumper all the weay to 65mph, then i started creeping in him.

I don't know anything about the LS Cobalts, but my friend has his 99 V6 Mustang (99-04 are all the same series). He has got aftermarket catvack exhaust, cold air intake, and decently new tires. We raced an IROC-Z Camero that had a bad clutch last night, and we pulled him by a hair lol. I can't see a Cobalt with aftermarket CB exhausrt and CAI getting near that, but I've never seen one of those get on it.

Pfft...I beat Mustangs all the time....

I guess all you SS drives haven't found the secret red button in your cars...ya it's the button that unviels your 2 rocket boosters....not a problem, I get Mach 2 @ 2.2seconds.

Look under the steering column....haven't you people asked yourself why the cars weights so much, and why we sport 18inch Z rated tires? And that wing! ya it's just not for show..remeber our cars are part SAAB's, and according to the commercials. "Saab's are born from Jets!"

Pfft...

So if an SC/SS can give a new edge GT a run for its money, then it's assumed that a 2.2 could whomp down on a '94-'98 Mustang V6 (150hp)?
How's this possible? Are fox Mustangs really THAT heavy or what?

Fox Mustangs are among the lightest, hence they make great foundations for drag cars.

If you ever see a fox body trust me it has potential, my friend put his motor out of his 89 GT hatch into his 90 coupe! That coupe is way lighter since we swapped it from a 4cyl to a V8, and pretty much took everything he didn't need out of it.

94-98 is a SN95 Gen I mustang

Fox body is 79-93 (but you mostly see the 87-93 fox)

My friends 05 V6 Auto's best run at the track is 16.3....I've seen better times on here for the LS coupes. I just bought an LS coupe so I'm sure we will run one of these days...I'm betting i'll win.

Only when you perform that all important 3rd - 2nd upshift. Yes, I said upshift.

Oh S2k A mustang driver or any v-8 driver worth his salt knows to bog it off the line a little then roll into it. The only time that isnt' true is with a auto, or a car running slicks/DRs then you can get a hairy ass launch that'll slam your big-gulp against the back window.

An S2k cannot launch HARD. It's drivtrain is not able to cope with such abuse. They are road course and auto X cars. Made in Japan for Japs perferance in racing/spirited driving.

And you claim it's stock. I call BS on that also. Esp when you claim to be waisting mach 1 stangs. Those are nothing to sneeze at. Yes all pre 02 fox were underrated, aside from the venerable 5.0 and the rare 84 SVO four. (Badass turbo ford) But such cars you shoudl always watch out for.

Now a 4gen F body is somthign that a cobalt will always have trouble beating. They wake way the hell up with headers and a cam. 350+ WHP for the LT1 and over 400 with the LS1. at altitude! Where a SC really shines cause it's sucking air into the intake whereas a N/A car has to work with what little it can suck in.

Either way unless it's a v6 anything but the SS/SC will have trouble pulling on it.

I can rev to 10k any time I want! And your'e doubting that I'm stock, who said mach 1's? My car right now stock could probably run mid-high 13's. Stock! I can't help it if other S2Ks cant drive. Yes I can pull hard off the line also!
