Cobalt SS/NA vs. Volkswagon Golf
Story goes I was leaving the diner and get to the light. Now I was in the middle lane and the right lane merges just after the light, most people turn right here. This kid in a early 2000's golf gets in the right lane and decides he wants to go straight. Light turns green and he guns it and being the ******* I am I gun it too cause I don't want him to get in from of me.
His golf was a 5 speed with at least an aftermarket exhaust from what I could tell. The race turned out to be dead even without either one of us able to get ahead of the other. So after about a 1/8 mile or so he drops back and turns off into a shopping plaza.
Now the funny part.....I look to see how fast I was going..........I was doing 65 speed limit on that road is 50. First thought in my head was damn my car is slow.
Now let the insults begin *grabs flamesuit*

lol i have the 2.4l auto and yes they are slow as *****. if you are in anything above 2nd gear the car feels like it has 80hp lol. just because i feel like ranting, i hate how squishy the gas pedal is.

I has manual. I had him by a car and he took off before me. Another friend of mine has a 03 GTI i keep asking him to race but he just assumes he wins and won't do it. I don't think i will win but its worth the shot.

After doing some research it is possible that it was a GTI or a VR6. Stock they typically run low 15's. I still would have expected him to pull on me though seeing as the auto trans. is a little slower.

98 Acura RL
93 Prelude SR (5spd h23 model)
03 GLI Jetta 1.8t 5 spd
98 Civic (GSR engine LS Trans swap)
96 Civic (B18B1 engine B16 Trans swap)
03 Sunfire 5 spd (factory dual exhaust whichever model that is..)
96 Integra 5 spd
Think thats about it.
So these things arent fast at all but they can surprise some people. Its nice when people hear im not Forced induction and an auto they expect me to be as slow as a 2.2 auto.

Well I saw the same kid at the diner tonight and its a GTI. He seemed puzzled when he asked what size pulley I had and I told him it wasn't supercharged.
