cobalt ss/sc vs 5.0 Mustang GT

I raced some kid who i knew, he drives a 5.0 Mustang GT, its an older one, probly from the 90's. we raced of a roll and i absolutely killed him. The kid continues to talk **** telling my i drive a gay girls car and the only reason it draws any attention is because its yellow.

You got any vid's of this race. And I did consider getting a yellow Cobalt but did'nt because they do stand out way too much so I got a black one as it blends in better with traffic and less likley for the cops to spot it

Nice kill man, and as others stated, haters will always hate. Was the 5.0 from 87-93, the fox style, or the 94-95 style? Either way from a roll you will beat a basic stock one, and even one with a few bolt ons. Once they gets heads/cam is when they start shining.

True that. Tell him his car is 15 years old and nothing special, then give him a backhand.

I've got a yellow one and have had it for 2 years now and I never get attention from the cops actually. And I've got a LOUD exhaust for my area...I don't know why, but the only time i've gotten pulled over in my car is for actually doing something wrong. 80 in a 45...and he let me off w/out even a warning. It was late at night on a back road and I was working, but that's still f'n awesome of him.

I raced one of the fox bodies at the track...I was stock, I don't know about his car but I'm assuming it was stock too. Wheel hop got me and he got the jump with a 1.9 60' to my 2.2 60', but by the end I got him by 7 tenths I think. Surprised the crap outta me, I thought those were faster lol

In stock form a 5.0 will run about 15.0 at 92 or so. I had a full bolt on Non H/C/I car and ran 14.0
@100.Now if I would have done a Trickflow H/C/I package it would have put the car in the mid to high 12 sec range.

It depends on the 5.0 too. Some of the 5.0's can go mid 14's in stock form and others won't break out of the low 15's.

I was in jr high/high school when these Mustangs were everywhere on the streets and trust me back then they were the ****. My brother had a 93 LX trunk and that thing would haul ass and was fun as hell to drive. The only thing in its class that really put it down was the GN and they were far and few between.

That was all back then though. What we thought was pretty fast back then was pretty fast back then. In todays market they were turds. Nothing really compares to the sound of those 5.0's though. They sound sound sick as **** with an exhaust.

Nice race!!

The notchback version of the fox body 5.0's have gone as best as 14 flat stock, but that's with a very good driver. Other than that they're mid to high 14 second cars.
