Cobalt SS T/C VS. 2011 Mustang V6
So here's the story, my fiancés little brother and her father got a V6 2011 Mustang. I am always telling them about my car and things I do to it. They call my car super slow and think it's crap. He has driven it and has floored it. They both say the mustang has more power. I drove the mustang and I think it's slow. But anyway they challenged me the other night to race. So in a few weeks we are going to the drag strip. I have never raced on a strip and he is a automatic. So first I think I'll win but let me get opinions and suggestions on best ways to launch and who will win.
Cobalt Mods: Full bolt-on w/ GMS1 and BYT Tune at 25psi
Mustang: Axle-back exhaust and K&N drop in filter

I'd say he's gonna win the first time, if its both your first time at the track and he has to mash a pedal and you have to actually drive stick and such, he may win

Put it this way....at an 1/8th my 1st time ever being to a strip I get lined up next to a guy in a new 5.0 with .373s an intake and tune that knows how to drive. This is back when I had a 22psi Trifecta Select-A-Tune. I get a horrible launch and chase him down spinning the whole way down and am right on his ass to the end, my front tires next to his rear tires. So IMO, if you lose you just horribly fail at drag racing being that your tune is most likely more aggressive than mine was and those v6s are fast but no where near a tuned 5.0 with .373s. Now if you get him to run you on the street and you lose, well...lets just say you fail at life, your tune just completely and utterly sucks, or there's something wrong with your car.
Edit: Also don't forget to bring an air compressor and lower your tire pressure at least 10-15lbs. I made the mistake and forgot my compressor when I went out so I couldn't lower my tire pressure and had no grip and that's prob the main reason I lost that day.

That is what I thought guys. I am going to get a few practice runs in so I'm used to the track before but I just want to shut him up cause I know he wont do street racing.

Hes gonna run mid high 13's. Its all going to depend on your launch. Your car IS faster then his but its your first time at the track and you have fwd. Like shibio said take it easy off the line, you should be able to run him down

Definitely good advice on lowering the tire pressure. Thats a given at a drag strip. Honestly, from what I understand about these aftermarket tunes, you would probably be better off racing him on the stock tune. Less wheel spin and craziness to have to control and its still plenty fast enough to beat 'em.
Good luck. Make sure someone video tapes its for you.
