what year GST? that car shouldve taken you easily, but if its a bone stock 10+yr old car on stock turbo and BOV then they are way under boosting and have a huge boost leak through that BOV.

My eclipse GSX was only pushing 6 lbs when I got it and it was all stock, switched the exhaust, intercooler piping and added a boost controller, the boost went up to 14 lbs and the difference in the car was night and day

those eclipse motors **** the bed after a while. If you ran one that was in good condition it would have taken you easily. good kill nonetheless

GSX >>>>>>> GST and if it was a 3rd gen GST its real dog.

GS-T performance roughly equals that of a stock SS S/C from the races I've seen.

oh nm you said 2004

GST does not exist in 2004. They are GTS, its a V6. <1999 GST and GSX's exist, they are 4 cyl turbos 210hp, GST is FWD and GSX is AWD.

1990-1994 the gst/gsx was rated at 190, but the awd had a HUGE drivetrain power loss. I had a '90 gsx with full bolt ons and i still only ran low-mid 14s depending on if it wanted to run well that day or not. the 2nd gen gst&gsxs are much faster, full bolt ons and you can get in the 13s easy... add a boost controller and you can reach 12s and 11s. if it was a GS-T and you got beat by that little it was either bone stock or bad/old/beat up engine.. or bad driver. the gsx is practically impossible to get a bad launch, rev to 5k and dump it. the gst will just go spin spin spin! but if it was an 04 there was no turbo, and more believeable it only got you by that much. i ran one a while back w/ intake and exhaust and was dead even from a 40 roll to 80 then his bigger engine got the better of me and he started pulling away.

Completely wrong! the 90-94 eclipse gst/gsx was rated at 190 but would do well into the 13s on their stock turbos (14B) with full bolt ons and boost controller the 95-99 gst/gsx was rated at 210 but they had a smaller turbo (T25) that was prone to wearing out quickly, mine full bolt ons didnt break 250 whp and would only run mid to low 14s, I upgraded turbos (Evo III big 16G) and drove it well into the 13s instantly.

and the GSX (AWD) is easy to screw up on launch in stock trim, too low and you get lag, too high and you would bog it down, too much drive train not enough power.

rev to 5k and dump it? that is like putting a toothpick under a watermelon and saying good luck, unless u upgraded the clutch and axles in that car, you would easily snap a shaft or blow a clutch, you really should do sum research on a car before driving it or even talking about it

the GSX and GST unfortunately died in 99 and it was GTS from 2000 until now, no turbos, and really heavy cars that are slow as hell, my GSX was lighter and it had a full AWD drivetrain underneath it.

i didnt have a boost controller chief, i said i only had full bolt ons, which is why mine didnt break into 13s. i was in a dsm club and we had 7 2g gsxs with bolt ons and a boost controller in 12s and below. stock turbo. ive owned 5 different dsms, turbo and non turbo, awd and fwd. ive worked on over 20 of them. i launched that way on mine for 3 years until i sold it and never snapped anything. not sure where you get your info, or if maybe you just had a lemon, but i'd have to say im a bit of an expert on dsms. also, the 99 gsx weighs 3270 manual and the 00 GT weighs 3120 manual...the GTS did not come about until 2003 and weighs in at a whopping 3241 manual.. still less than the 2g. maybe YOU should do some research.

i have also owned several of them and i have been in the DSM community for the better part of 10 yrs so I think i would know, i am not going to deny in of the things you said about the later generations but i do know that they are slow! the stock turbo on the 2Gs are garbage period, some ppl have gotten sum really good numbers out of them but for the most part they are a complete waste of time when you could just upgrade for a better one and make life way easier.

even though boost controllers dont actually have bolts, any person that has a turbo car knows that a boost controller should b in the first couple of mods. I have worked on a ton of them including mike from ams and sheps car

when i got mine it had the mods already on it and was my dd, i didn't want to do much else. i had a avenger with a 6g72 tt swap as my fun car which most of my money went into. ive never really considered a boost controller a bolt on either. bolt ons are mods which are bolted on and require no tuning/adjustment... that's how i've always seen it.

it actually wasn't that difficult, the 6g73 and 6g72 have the same block. there are a lot of things from the 73 that have to be swapped onto the 72 to fit but it just took time, wasn't hard. i'll pull up some pics from my old pc.. this was years ago, the car has since been totalled

yeah my ex was in love with the car and i was stupid and let her drive it one day. she didnt actually cause the accident but still... if i was driving it wouldn't have happened. im at work right now, i'll poke around my computer once i get home and put it all together.

edit: the computer wont boot, its giving me 5 beeps when i start it up and stays at a black screen... which i believe is the motherboard. i'll swap that old drive into my new computer and see if that will work.
