i destroyed a '90 'vette the other day in my stock SS/SC w/ the performance package. even though the 'vette was old i didn't think i had much of a chance...but i was wrong.

the older vetts dont have much horsepower my uncle has a 87 it has 300 tq but 220 hp. now the 91 or 92 i think is when they went to the lt1 witch hopped up the power some. that might have beaten you. how do you know it was a 90 though good kill though

'90 have specific bumbers and taillights, which i saw for a breif period as i did pull up behind him, then he sped up, so i put it in 3rd and i was gone.

It was not a ZR1 other wise you would have been toast thoes things put out 385 i think(could be 345) and like high 300 tq rateing. that was at the crank so it would still be over 300 at the wheels. the ZR1 ran high 12s out of the box. it more then likely had the L98 moter which was rated at 250 hp 245 tq, i think that would be an easy kill for an ss/sc balt
still nice to see we can hang with the big boys nice kill

ENGINE OPTIONS:
350ci 245/250hp (L98), 350ci 375hp (LT5) these are the engine options on the 90 corvette. not including the zr1. and the bumpers on the 90 were the same as the ones in the 80s now but in 91 they went to the new bumpers and in 92 they went to the lt-1. thats when the speed came back to the vette and in 94 the zr1 went up to 405 horse power that was a 30 increase. so before that it had 375 hp.

I love how the title is "Corvettes are slow" in a general state when he really raced a 17 year old vehicle...

Not only are they old, but if you do your research all of the cars from that era had problems being very very fast because of emission changes. Mustangs, and Camaros alike in the low 90s were nothing short of slow for V-8s. The technology just was not there from factory to be fast and pass emission and polution codes.

i love my 78 vette but my balt runs circles around it
i also believe the 78 vette with the L82 moter was the fastest production car for that year in there day they were great cars but its hard to compare them to newer ones

yea the bluedevel is sweet. but they are going to make it the corvette z06r now instead of the blue deveil but still supercharged. should be great. when you buy the car they are going to send you to drivers school lol. also about the 90s vette being great back then. car and driver has a artile on the zr1 from back then the vette made the cover of the mag. it was called the corvette from hell. think about it you go from 350hp in a vette to 405 pounds and lighter it must have been amazing just like the zo6 now to the c5 one.

when those cars were new they were NOT slow... that L98 was pretty good for its time. a friend had a 92 Z28 with it in it and I watched him pull 14.1's all night long and then a magical 1.9 60' and a 13.6 Bone Stock.. at E-town on a 50f night.. just because you pulled that POS don't EVER take a Vette lightly, or for that matter anything running a Chevy Small Block...
Sorry 13.6 was a 13.8, still you get the point..
