Evolution and SS story
Evolution and SS story
I'm a regular on this forum but I thought it would be smart to tell stories like this using another screen name... maybe I'm just paranoid. Anyway, I had the opportunity to race an Evolution. We raced 3 times from a slow roll (5 mph or so), and then we raced one time dropping the clutch from a stop.
I expect people to call BS when they read this, so let me start off by saying that I am a fairly inexperience driver, and I think he is too, so these results may be partly due to a bad driver or luck. Also, the Evolution owner said that he had been messing with his boost levels and he thought that his changes might have actually hurt his performance instead of helping it. He also had an aftermarket exhaust.
Each of the first 3 races turned out the same way. I jumped out to a car length lead on him by the time we were in second gear. By that time the Evolution was able to keep up, but I held my lead on him until I let off somewhere in 3rd gear.
In the 4th race, we droped our clutches from a stop because the driver of the Evolution conceded that he was never going to be able to beat me starting from a roll. I dropped at 2000 RPM, and after the race he told me that he dropped from 3500. I think I got a pretty good launch, but his car took off like a bat out of hell and got about a car and a half lead on me. After that, I gained on him just a little bit, but I missed 3rd gear and was never able to catch him.
Needless to say, I had a great time. Hearing my supercharger whine while his turbo whistled like a tea kettle was such a rush while driving that fast. I think I also gained a little respect for the SS, as the Evolution driver freely admitted that he was beaten. We exchanged information and he wants a rematch when he gets his car tuned a little better. Hopefully by that time I can make some mods too and win again. But it's now official... the SS is for real!

Hampster...
The problem is this is a really old post. If you are racing a new IX - which you are - it's totally different no matter what did or did not happen to this guy.
The IX has a bigger turbo and Mivec - they really are a different car.
Again though, good luck.

...... so I got owned hardcore lol...... oh well maybe one day I might get me an Evo under my belt to add to my wins list
