raced a 2.4 ss the other night. I could have had a better launch, all i had was wheel hop and even into my 1 - 2 shift as well.... It was close but i took him by a bumper!!

looks close, but good kill regardless. i got a feeling i'm gonna get flamed, but stock for stock, i've driven both and the 2.4 is really not much faster at all.

 

nice squeakin it out.. however i'm guessing he wasn't modded was he? good kill though ome competition is always good IMO

 

driving all trims of cobalts i have to agree, the 2.4 isnt much faster then the 2.2. IT IS FASTER stock vs stock no questions theres and no one can argue that one..but there isnt a huge amount of difference like the differences in the 2.4 vs 2.0. the 2.4 i would say has WAY more potental then the 2.2 but to each his own..

 

ive beat an ss/sc and have it on video as well....with any car it is the driver input that determines a race, so take the upcoming flaming with a grain of salt lol nice kill

 

its true he has..and ive beatn ss_ry so does that mean i can beat a ss/sc? well it happens that the exact same ss/sc that beat ss_ry beat me at the track..so its all really driver input..i agree

yea thanks for sure, i was expecting the flames and haters to be comin out like mad, especially after i said i beat a civic SI.
i'm pretty sure he was 100% stock as well.

 

i beat a turbo 350Z and i got the timeslip to prove it..what does that cleary tell you?

The race looked really close man. The 2.4 doesnt look that much faster than the 2.4. But the 2.2 has a very long gear.

 

the 2.4 and 2.2 have the same tranny...pretty much same everything except we have .2L of displacement and a better stock exhaust/intake..

so i dont know how u can think the 2.2 is faster then the 2.4, like i stated the gains are small..but the 2.4 stock for stock vs a 2.2 will always be faster

 

That was the worst video ever...you can't tell who won and I am calling bs. If it was close, it was probably that your car was a manual and the SS was an automatic.

I hate videos from that point of view-just get someone to stand at the end of the spot you are racing.

yea we need more info on the race/cars. was it a 2.4 auto or manual. what mods to you have, and what mods did the 2.4 have (you say it was stock but are u sure).

im not calling bs cuz i think it is believable, and i definately want to believe it since i have an ls too. lol

 

I've beaten a mazda 3 speed and a cobalt ss sc at the track. But I know that the drivers of those cars just didn't drive well. I wouldn't pull up to a mazda 3 speed and start revving just because one idiot ran a16.2 in one at the track. I know better. But hey a win is a win. I just wouldn't assume that a 2.2 is better than a 2.4 because you beat one. Like for instance I talked my sister in racing me once in her 2.3 L mazda 3 and she ran a 19.3

 

This thread proves that anything can happen in a race. Your 2.2 beat that 2.4, doesn't mean that you can beat all stock 2.4s... So long as you remember that you beat that 2.4 and not all stock 2.4's then we are all good and nice race.

But yeah. Good kill. I don't have video, but I've destroyed a 2.2l balt with my 2.4l....it just means I beat that driver, not that I beat that car for all time.

But this DOES tell you that you are capable of beating 2.4l cobalts

my friend in his pos honda prelude h22 beat a automatic cobalt ss. i swear it was the longest race ever=\

 

Now just for clarification, because I don't want to upset any supercharge owners. The guy with the ss s/c did run a faster time then I did I just killed him on the tree and 60 ft(r/t is one of the few race advantages of being an auto). **** he actually trapped ten mph faster than I did. But his sixty was horrible.

Actualy no they don't. Everyone THINKS they do cause the GM sites are WRONG! When I worked for GM I posted to this fact and faxed te MODS the GM parts lists SHOWING the 2.4 has a different final drive gearing AND valve body in the same transmission. Noone believed me till the pages were copied and put up here. Ask the mods that have been around for about a year and they SHOULD remember the post.

...i spanked the **** out of a turbo'd and tricked-out wrx-impreza because the dumb hoe shifted at WOT the same as if she was accelerating from a stop sign... at around 3 or 4k.... what a tool. Get the driver mod and you'll win more often.
