HHR SS vs 07 350Z

So my friend and I decided to do a spur of the moment 20mph roll. His HHR SS, which only has a very mild tune vs my 350Z which is now sporting a Cobb canned tune.

He feels his HHR with the tune is faster than his supercharged Z24, so we decided to find out. Now for some background, his Cavy will give the 350Z a hell of a run, usually ends up with me winning but only after tracking that little bastard down on the top end, the Cavy has tremendous bottom end.

So we decided on a 20mph roll, due to the temperature both of our tires are hockey pucks. Also we know the 350Z has the dig advantage being RWD. He picked the 20mph roll as I'm pretty much game for anything and we were doing this for science!

Anyways, he honked us off. At 20mph, I'm in 1st gear at about 3300RPM which is a nice place to be for me. His HHR is an auto so he had his pulled down in to 1st as well. When he honked it off we hit it, miraculously we both had traction. I instantly pulled a couple cars, hit second and kept pulling. By the end of 3rd gear I had at least 6 car lengths on him.

I honestly was expecting a closer race than that since he was thinking the HHR was faster than the Cavy. It was fun though, which ultimately is all that matters. I think if he actually spent the time going through the tune and throwing timing at it and such it would be a close race. He just basically raised boost and disabled the TQ management so it is just a very basic tune.

I'm sure the auto and the weight over the Cav is what made it so much slower.

try to make another run if he says it has to be quicker than his cavy then maybe he messed up somehow, and film it.

No a well tuned auto HHR SS is no joke. I tuned one on E-47 that runs 12s all day long at 116 mph.

I don't doubt that but from my experience with GM auto's is they're really slow on downshifts which is huge in a roll race.

My bad. Read it as it shifted down to first.

But anyway the weight and the auto weren't helping him at all.

Spur of the moment. There was no time for that

Yes, LD9 with the GM M45 supercharger kit, tons of meth and a tiny pulley. It's pretty nasty for what it is.

The HHR probably "feels" faster because of TQ.

Ever wonder why all those big Dodge diesel trucks want to race? Their trucks "feel" fast.

Torque skews butt dynos.
