I just turned onto an onramp to get on the freeway and some reddish purple car was tailgating me like crazy, he had a windshield banner with "racing" on it and I was cracking up laughing at this. I merge onto the freeway and he guns it around me to the left lane. I notice it's a pontiac grand prix gt and the guy looks like a tool. As he is passing me with his car floored, I hear spooling....i'm saying to myself, what the ******* ****. He slows down ahead and i go up next to him with the wtf look on my face, i honk it off. We are dead even, I pull MAYBE a foot. I give him the thumbs up and we slow down and talk, he's running a Garrett 16g turbo on 10lbs of boost with 42lb injectors, built tranny, and the works. He told me and i quote "You are NOT STOCK...I've never had a cobalt hang with me before!" I knod and tell him my mods. I have intake, downpipe, s2, 2.99.
I'm not sure whether to be proud for keeping up or what...i'm still in shock about someone actually putting money into a non gtp grand prix.

Eww, a 16g on a 3.8L..... I'd bet that car makes somewhere around 280whp and the turbo is most likely glowing orange at idle.
Horrible choice of a Turbo, sounds like a hackjob. anyhow, nice death/kill or whatever. Putting money into a GT instead of a GTP is nearly the same thing, especially if you're going turbo.

you realize that the only difference between the GT and the GTP are:
blower
higher compression on the GT
transmission
few other small odds and ends.
The block is capable of WELL past 500whp... and a 9 second pass
3 grand prix's have hit 9s on the stock shortblock. (other than a large cam of course)
so once you take the Supercharger off it.. and throw a turbo on it.. block for block.. the GT block is better
it has a 9.5:1 compression ration.. not to mention the trans has a 3.29:1 gear ratio.. while the GTP has a 2.93:1 gear ratio.

automatic + race trans = ...

he damn well better... turbo grand prixs EAT the stock 4t65-hd or 4t65 (or even 4t60 for the 97's)
On a side note.. a guy in our local club runs CONSISTANT 12.1s on the bone stock 2000 transmission. Hes not even cammed and still has the m90
